CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

My car does not always start. When I push the start button the lights come on and the car chimes, but it doesn't always start. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a bad starter. I had the starter replaced and it appeared to be working fine. Now, after a month I am having the same problem. I am the original owner and have also had a dead battery twice since buying it. My car currently has about 77K miles on it.

I have a 2013 Honda Accord 2013 with 75,000 miles on it. For the past few moth I've been having problem with the starter. The car will turn on, but after a few tries. I brought the car to the Honda dealer and they confirmed there was a problem with the starter. I did not replaced it because I did extensive research and found out that there are too many customers with the same complaint and it's not fair for some that only have a few thousand miles on their cars for them to be paying over $800 for car defect that Honda knows that many of their vehicles should already have a recall.

When I start my vehicle, the engine turns on, but only stays on for a second or two before loosing power. The battery seems to be working perfectly fine as the lights and indicators are properly lit. The starter also cranks properly. The engine however turns on but doesn't stay O. this has happened to me multiple times and I have changed my car battery 3 times now as the dealership isn't unable to identify what the issue is and my battery keeps getting drained. The car is particularly susceptible to this issue in the mornings in colder temperatures (50 degrees or so as I live in southern California) after not being used overnight

I purchased this Honda used in August 2016. The car was still under warranty when 2 months later the starter began to malfunction. It would take several tries of pushing the button for the car to actually start. October 2016, the battery and starter were replaced under warranty. February 2018 I had the battery connection recall fix performed, and immediately after began having starter issues again, not even 18 months after having it replaced. This car has 55K miles on it at this point and will be on its 3rd starter. I am refusing to pay for this repair and getting away from this brand.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. Approximately three months after the contact purchased the vehicle, it started to stall. On several occasions, after the vehicle stalled, the contact would have to jumpstart the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V418000 (electrical system). The vehicle was taken to brickell Honda (690 sw 8th St, miami, fl 33130, (305) 856-3000) where the battery sensor was replaced. The contact was unsure if the battery sensor was replaced or if adhesive was applied to the battery case to prevent water intrusion. The contact stated that the failure recurred and the battery had to be recharged three times after the recall repair was completed. The contact stated that all of the warning indicators illuminated on and off. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently being diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

My 2013 Honda Accord 4 door was working great. Until I took it for a battery censor recall at. Honda of rock hill, SC in December 2017. My keyless switch was not working properly. Battery on car was replaced and battery on keys were replaced as well. Took it to Honda of rock hill, on 2/2018, they stated it was the starter.?? went on youtube and internet and this has been happening a lot to 2013 Honda Accord. But there is not a recalled. Called and open a case with Honda of North America they wanted to know if starter failed was caused by recall. Called dealer and technician could not determine if failed of starter was caused by changing of part in recalled.

My 2013 Honda Accord touring model electric power steering failed. The car only has 49,000 miles. The dealer states it is no longer a extended warranty issue and will not cover issue. The problem was noticed while driving the vehicle and then taken to the dealer for evaluation. The problem is loss of power steering and/or a sudden increase in steering effort and dealer identified that the electric power steering box needs replacement for a total of $2100. For a "new" car this is ridiculous and should be Honda's fix not the costumer.

2013 Accord fails to start when using either push button start or dealer installed remote start. Engine does not turn over, only a grinding sound is produced. It can take as many as 5 or 6 attempts to start before the starter will actually engage and start the engine. Starter replaced in accordance with Honda tsb 16-002, but the issue continues. Issue first occurred when the vehicle had just over 40K miles and has been happening for last 18 -24 months and is getting worse. This occurs in both warm and cold weather, and with either a hot or cold engine. Car now only has 64K miles.

I noticed several weeks ago that the car would not start at first attempt and today (01-25-18) my 2013 Honda Accord failed to start completely. I have about 50,000 miles on it and I feel that this problem should not happen since the car is not very old. Now I have to pay about $900 to have it repaired because a new starter is needed. Hopefully, the car was in the parking lot of my local library so no accidents happened. The only reason I have this car is for its reliability but now I have second thoughts.

Our 2013 Honda Accord push button engine start button is not working reliably. We depress the brake and push the button, lights come on but no starter noise. We recently had the Honda recall for the battery boot completed. Within 2 months we began having difficulty with the push button engine start. The car battery was replaced approximately 4 months ago so we were sure it wasn't that. Next step, replaced both fob batteries. Still having the same difficulty. Is it a coincidence that Honda dealer has been in the engine/electrical system recently or is this a bad sign of Honda's poor workmanship?

60,000 miles car would not start. After several attempts it started ok. Again a few days later tried to start and would not. Bought a new battery and worked ok for a couple days. Getting worse and worse and now instead of once a week it's 4-5 times a week. Took to Honda dealership in leesberg fla and they told me I was putting "cell phone" to close to key fob therefore blocking signal to ignition. The next day I replaced key fob and did not have cell phone anywhere close. Car would not start. After now knowing if car would start or not and dealer telling me unless it happened "all" the time they could not fix. Got on the internet and it said that everyone is having this problem and Honda has a defective starter. I took car to have new starter installed and have not had any problems since. I find it strange that the Honda "dealer" was not aware of this and I had to research info thru the internet to find the problem and don't know why Honda does not repay the customer and or have a recall on the starter. My problem is now fixed with the installation of a new starter!
