CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Honda Accord 2013 V6 100k miles

Very hard to find issue. One dealer couldn't find it but the second one can.

Problem: Car won't start. After driving it 30 miles every day, the battery completely drained, and won't crank on start button. Jump won't help, but jump from Tow truck works and it starts. Took to dealer and car works for them. Can't figure out issue. Replaced new battery.

A few days later, the car starts from a cold engine but wants to shut down on red light at traffic light after 10 mins of driving and warming up. Hesitates severely above 3k rpm. Died two times like this and cranks but won't start. Wait 10 minutes, let it cool and starts back up and I go home.

Various warning lights including engine check lights comes on but goes away after overnight. Local mechanic was able to pull codes and it says

Engine Codes P0335 and/or P0339 Honda service bulletin 16-011

Fix: The second dealer replaced Crankshaft sensor for $490 and it's all good now.

Looking back, the crank shaft sensor had some issues since I bought car brand new in 2013, as it did shut down like other users have pointed out, a couple times a year at traffic lights and would start right back up normally.

This bulletin says to replace crank shaft sensor and if required engine harness. Harness is $1500 part and doesn't need to be replaced, at least in my case.

It is hard to imagine having to change out a battery in a car that is garaged kept less than 5 years old.
