CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Honda Accord has a solid reputation (so far), with one very significant flaw: uncomfortable seats.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight.

The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

Accord LX 2.4L 4 cyl

After about a week of driving the car back in June, we noticed that we were still hearing the squealing noise from the brakes. After taking it back to the same mechanic, we were told that it was the back brakes. We also heard this from an additional mechanic from another shop. We had to wait a while to get them done, but we when did, we had to replace the rear rotors and pads as well, but the squealing stopped. We are thinking isn't it ironic that both the front and rear brakes have problems already and the car is only about 4 years old? And we don't do heavy driving in the vehicle.

We brought the car in to the shop because we thought it needed an alignment. The mechanic said that it was not the alignment, but the front brakes. Rotors and pads. We proceeded to get them fixed.

Why do I need to replace front and back brake pads on a car that only has 27,000 miles on it?! Talk about a rip off! Does this mean that I need to spend $500 every so many years to replace pads?

Accord LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,814 miles

I have had no rodents in the car as yet, and I find the driver's seat very comfortable. But I was not happy to have to replace the rear brake pads and rotor at only 41,814 miles. The mechanic said he was surprised too, said they usually last much longer.

I just find it hard to believe that Hondas Accord and flagship vehicle will need brakes pads every 30,000 miles, it doesn't seem right, it seems very premature.
