CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Honda Accord has a solid reputation (so far), with one very significant flaw: uncomfortable seats.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight.

The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

I have had this braking problem for over 2 years and paid OVER $2500 on brakes ALONE. Recently, I had 4 new tires put on this car and wouldn't you know, it needs FRONT and BACK brakes again!! I will not replace these brakes anymore, too expensive!!!!!! This car is a LEMON LEMON LEMON!!!!!

Accord LX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,289 miles

THIS PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR OVER 2 YEARS!!! I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON THE PROBLEM WITH NO SUPPORT OR OUTREACH FROM HONDA OR THE DEALER WHERE THE CAR HAS BEEN PURCHASED FROM. I HAVE HAD (UNDER WARRANTY) REPAIRS ON THE CALIPERS, RACK AND PINION, AND AXEL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE TO ESCORT CHILDREN FROM ACTIVITY TO ACTIVITY, WHICH HAPPENS FREQUENTLY.

Accord LX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,538 miles

THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT THROUGH A DEALER (USED). I HAD A LEAKING CALIPER (BOTH SIDES) AND A LEAKING RACK AND PINION JOINT. THESE WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER SINCE THESE HAVE BEEN REPLACED, MY BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN THE SAME!! I HAVE GONE THROUGH BRAKE JOBS ON AVERAGE, ABOUT EVERY OIL CHANGE. FROM THE LAST TIME I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED IT HAS ONLY BEEN 6 WEEKS11!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES OR TO PICK UP CHILDREN. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD TO TURN DOWN A PART-TIME JOB DUE TO THE DRIVING DISTANCES OR INABILITY TO STOP.

The Honda now has 54k miles and the rear brake pads are worn out for the third time (first at about 20K).

This seems to be the same problem as with earlier models.

This is the third Honda my family has purchased in the last 6 years. My family has always purchased Honda automobiles due to their reliability, quality and affordability. There seems to be a shift in the quality of design of their more recent Honda Accords. I live in the Bay Area and drive very little. Purchased my 2011 Honda Accord brand new and after 2 1/2 years at 22,000 my brakes began to shake as I am coming to a halt from the freeway and when I have to brake at a stop sign. I am no street racer, and I drive no where near what the average person drives in a year.

Went into the Honda dealership and let them know about my situation. The service adviser informed me that all four brake pads needed to be changed and the front rotors needed to be resurfaced. Because it was considered normal wear and tear, it was not covered under warranty. The service adviser told me the cause of the brake wear was normal and was because of the way I used the brake. I apparently "ride my brakes" when I am going down hill. Who stomps down hard on their brakes? Who doesn't pump on their brakes more than once when they are slowing down from exiting the freeway?!

For clarification, I asked if what he was meaning to say is that I would have to do this service every 4-5 years? Even he recognized how absurd it sounded and hesitated with a yes. They charged me $571 dollars for the service! What a JOKE!!!!!!!!
