In October 2013, Honda settled a class action for excessive oil consumption which extends their V6 powertrain warranty out to 8 years & no mileage limit. However, is the inconvenience & risk of dealing with Honda on this problem worth it? We don't think so.
Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Unwary buyers report the seat pain is mainly only noticeable after 15-20 minutes. The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive."
Wheel bearings in the front wheels went out at 30000 miles. I became so accustomed to the noise that i couldn't hear it. It was only until my dad rode in my car that he told me that it was loud and I needed to get it checked out. Dealer replaced the front bearings under warranty.
Fourth Honda I have owned, first brand new off the showroom floor. WORST HONDA I have ever owned. From the get go, had a strange vibration when braking, took it back to the dealer, felt like I was driving over speed bumps. Dealer said brakes needed to wear in, new car. At 35k replaced brakes and rotors. Brakes replaced again at 70k, tires replaced in 7 years, approximately 4 times. Last tire replacement 3 weeks, said maybe look at your struts, into the dealer where they said, no need rear brakes, AGAIN, replaced brakes, 3 weeks later knocking, vibrating in front of the car, surprise, front brakes now need replaced, struts need to be replaced and alignment. $1200. THEN, get a call, still knocking, still vibrating I need NEW CONTROL ARMS. WHAT! The car barely has 115k is 7 years old. My total bill is now $2500.00. Honestly I am not sure what to do or where to go other to report it directly to Honda. I thought I had an extended warranty, its been an issue with the vehicle since the day I bought it. I will seriously re-think my attitude that Honda is the best car out there (I bought my daughter a Honda), my next car may just be something else. I am so disappointed.
At about 54,000 miles the left front wheel bearing began to growl and 2 Honda dealers confirmed that the bearing was worn out. The cost of replacing the bearing was quoted as $675 for 1 wheel. One of the 2 dealers diagnosed both front wheels as needing replacement. I can't imagine a bearing failure in 54,000 miles, and I can't imagine the repair cost. The bearing is sealed and doesn't require periodic lubrication. I don't plan to spend $1,400 every 50,000 miles to keep the wheels from falling off.
Wheel bearing should last well over 100,000 miles if ever needed.
Car has vibrations when traveling straight and less when turning left regardless of speed.
Asked dealer if it could be the wheel bearing, they said they would look at it for $100.
I have owned many Accords, CRVs, Accord Cross tour, and the S2000. Honda has been my brand for years however I have began to lose confidence. Currently have 2 Accords but they will be my last.
wheel bearing at 35000 auto out of alignment. needed to replace all four tires they paid for the bearing repair I was stuck for the rest. called Honda but they said no. now the right wheel bearing is out have not had it fixed yet just happened. will have it fixed next week not sure how long I am going to have this car also read on the internet that it is one of the worst 15 autos repair wise john
