CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2010 Honda Accord some several significant flaws: excessive oil consumption, premature brake wear, & uncomfortable seats.

In October 2013, Honda settled a class action for excessive oil consumption which extends their V6 powertrain warranty out to 8 years & no mileage limit. However, is the inconvenience & risk of dealing with Honda on this problem worth it? We don't think so.

Premature brake wear has been a consistent problem for this Accord generation. Once again Honda settled a class action lawsuit over brake wear, but most 2010 Accords are NOT covered.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Unwary buyers report the seat pain is mainly only noticeable after 15-20 minutes. The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive."

I purchased a 2010 Honda last year. And the engine makes a loud noise. As well as burns through oil. I get an oil change. And at 80% I end up having to purchase 2 quarts and add more oil to the engine. That is not normal.

I have a 2010 Accord coupe I notice ac/heat vent problems and a leak in the coolant inside the passenger floor/console area. So I researched it and saw this Manufacturer Communication ID: 10120775 says: In this service bulletin, Honda alerted dealerships that the driver-??s side vent may produce a lower level of heat than what is coming from the front passenger-??s vent. The most common cause is that the car-??s heater core is partially clogged. When this happens, it can cause the heater's performance to fail. The company instructed dealerships that encounter this problem to flush the heater core to resolve it. No recall has been issued, but dealerships should know how to handle this problem. I will reach out to Honda dealerships in my area to see what happens.

This past week I experienced a catastrophic malfunction with the vehicle, while driving it appeared to short circuit and shut down. It would not allow me to drive in any gear whatsoever. Upon taking it to a mechanic at Jiffy Lube he stated the incident is identical and experienced the same issues that Honda and the Dept of Transportation deemed a recall that could have ended in severe injury or death. That issue and recall being (see below) Powertrain:Auto Transmission Control Module (TCM, PCM). You see the mechanic at Jiffy Lube referred me to this recall due to his analysis and diagnosis being the same. Whom stated that the vin doesn't state a recall, but it being the exact same model, make, engine, year, and coupled with the fact that it has TCM and PCM catastrophic damage, I was subjected to and encountered. I request this matter be further researched and investigation conducted because 1.5 million vehicles were effected and I'd feel more confident and place more faith in Honda upon investigation.

105K miles, regular car maintenance, clean title (no previous accidents/other issues), no pending recalls. While driving the car at 55 mph on the highway, the engine somehow ignited and caught fire. Previous to this incident, there were no pending issues, which were confirmed by a recent inspection and minor repairs. I strongly believe this was a faulty Honda engine.

09-2017 - 75,402 mileage -noise concern light on dash board: Dealer said needs breaks($426.32 I paid Honda), noise continues and dealer wants me to pay for a diagnosis.02-2018 - 80,301 mileage - talked to service manager, took it for ride (same noise- light on dash boar). Manager said needs axels ($1,413) too much money. I took it other place to change axels. Same noise continues. 05-2019 - 97,386 mileage took to dealer because noise and light on dash dealer said no oil and based on what I told service advisoe - erick gomez- car missed the recall date for burning oil and needs piston rings that costs few thousands of dollars. Since that date I have to check the oil two or three times a week and pour oil if need it before the 2,500 or 3,000 mileage I told him that every time I went to Honda with the same problem they lied to me in regards of diagnosis of the problem and I was spending money, time, stress, frustration without results. The Honda dealer has been negligent and procastinates in regards of the recall on the car for burning oil. The problem was there and they were guessing on solve it, because they knew about other cars. On 10-10-2020 my friend was helping me to check the oil, I told him about my Honda problems and we decided to look on the internet about the recall. This is not my first Honda, on 2008 I bought at the same dealer a Honda Accord; I do not recall but I think was a 2007 that I drove for few years and I sold it without this kind of problems. The dealer has that file. I had a Honda civic - without this kind of problems. I bought Honda because quality and low cost repairs. I am a single 58 years old woman looking for justice. I called NHTSA and the person gave me the case numer 11364385

On a road trip to mass, check engine light blinks and car runs poorly. Stop at the nearest Honda, garber Honda in rochester, NY. First made aware of recall. Garber says repair is made and is covered under recall program. I was advised to return if problem comes back and told I had unlimited miles to do so. Car continues to consume oil. I was unaware that the consumption was part of the extended warranty campaign regarding the number 2 cylinder. 26 October - 9 November 2018 check engine light starts to blink and car runs poorly. On the road I take it to the nearest Honda, lia Honda of williamsville, NY. Number 2 plug fouled again. I was told the warranty campaign had ended and I had to bring in all the maintenance records to qualify for a 'good will' repair. I fax and called northtown but records from previous years not available due to dealership buyout. I paid to have spark plug replaced. I spent 3 weeks exchanging emails with adrian bonsey at lia to resolve the issue. In my final follow up he mentions he had cleared the exchange of emails from his system. I go online and research the issue discovering the warranty campaign letter, a letter I had never been given before.I am unable to get my emissions done for the state of NY due to a nearly always on check engine light. I consume 2 - 3 quarts of oil between oil changes and foul out a plug every few months. I think Honda owes me a repair since the previous repair did not resolve the known issue.

During a cold start, and car is stationarythe engine rattles for about 2 seconds. I have found out per the dealer, that this problem is caused by the vtc actuator. Apparently this particular make and model has this problem. Honda has always been aware of this problem and claims that the only remedy is to replace the actuator at a cost of around $900 dollars.however they claim that this may not even correct the problem. Honda was aware of this defect announced a so called recall knowing that this recall would not correct the problem. It was strictly to cover their liability. I feel that Honda should correct this problem for my 2010 Honda Accord at no cost to consumers. Honda corporation was always aware of this defect and still continued to sell this particular model to consumers.

In the past 2 years I have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils twice! I have had to top off my oil without having oil leakage. I have replaced my battery twice, and now need to replace my alternator. Apparently, there is a correlation between the oil and electrical issues.. it must be getting past pistons somehow. This is an issue that manufacturer should have addressed!

I turned on my car and the engine was making a rough sputtering sound and when I started driving, it felt like it was going to cut off. This has happened several times before. The first time it hapened I took it to the dealer and they addressed it for free. The second time I paid a couple hundred dollars to have piston(s) replaced and have it cleaned out. One of the service men at the dealer said the next time this happens it would cost thousands of dollars to fix. That was 3-4 months ago and now it is doing the same thing again. In the approximately 5 years I have owned this car I have replaced 2 alternators and at least 2 batteries. The dealer says that this car prematurely burns off the oil in the engine. It is poor oil consumption. I was trying to top off the oil regularly in between oil changes but nothing has helped this. Please have Honda issue a recall on this make and model
