Okay, so this is my 3rd Honda Accord I've ever owned. LOVED MY FIRST TWO!! They were late 90s/early 2000s models. This 2009 Honda Accord that I have now, f** this car. Throws a bank 1 & 2 code. Okay fine. The catalytic converter was stolen off of it so the people before me who owned it had it straight piped. K whatever. Obviously I have to replace all the oxygen sensors. And of course I get trash gas mileage but god d* maybe 15mpg. That s* is out of line.

But that's not even the beginning... This car when driving in 4th gear (normal drive) NOT starting in first and stair stepping it up like a standard, and this b* shudders, and I mean like she's been swimming in a pool, got out, and went outside to winter SHUDDER! Like don't be taking a drink when switching gears go it's a going everywhere.

Wtf kinda s* is that?! And of course ya know bought it as is, wasn't showing that issue during test drive, and of course they had codes cleared. That is just one of the MANY, MANY PROBLEMS I'VE ENCOUNTERED WITH THIS CAR!

It is unfortunate that after all these years that I lived to drive Honda vehicles, that is the last thing I wish to do every morning when I wake up.

Ever since I got this 2009 Accord it has been nothing but nightmares. I would be easily logging in a complaint every 3 to 4 weeks, from brakes issues, oil burning, check engine lights, spark plugs, wheel bearings, engine stalling..... Really is there more to be said about this particular Generation???

The fact that Honda doesn't stand up and help the consumers is down right wrong!! Telling me that I can bring it in every time it breaks down is not the answer. We lose hours and days of work that are not paid or accounted for by the manufacturer; I put my kids at risk every time I drive this car, hoping that it doesn't stall in the middle of the highway.

So far I have taken this car to my mechanic more that 10 times for the same issues over and over again,.He was a certified mechanic for Honda early on his carrier, so he knows all too well about these issues. The only reason why I can bother going to the dealer is because the fix is the same all the time and of course without failure I get the laundry list of other things they want me to fix!!

This has been the most disappointing purchase I have ever had, unfortunately with no remedy in sight!

I think all that is left is just to put it out its misery.

The Engine shudders, especially when idling, especially when a/c is on (I live in Florida and it's unpleasant to sit at a red light for even 2 minutes with the air off, but not the main issue).

Like a person above mentioned, cylinder number 3 was an issue more than once. I've replaced others but I think I'm on my second time replacing cylinder three in the past two years and hopefully not replacing it a third time when I take the car in tomorrow, finally.

I'm tapped out of money at this point, and have been driving the car short distances to work and back with my fingers crossed. The engine light stays solid some days with minor hesitation, other days it seems to have no problem getting into gear. And still other days the moment I start it, the engine light starts blinking and the VSA light comes on. The car will then idle in a shuddering way. When I start driving, it gets to about 3000rpm and struggles, struggles, struggles and fails to get into 2nd. It takes forever to even get to 15mph from a dead stop.

As a solution, when this erratic situation occurs, I've learned to drive it like a stick and the problem is diminished. (Drive it like a stick means start it in D1, switch to D2, and finally D3 - but D3 doesn't always take). I don't know if this is bad for the car because I don't have a clutch - it's automatic - and I've never tried to drive an automatic this way before.

The trans fluid is fine, the oil is fine. The 4 plugs are all new (less than 10 months old).

* Side issue: I had an issue with water damage about 8 months ago when the radiator fan broke apart and damaged the computer and the radiator itself. Both have been replaced (Cha-ching) and now the original problem still happens (sometimes weeks go by with no issue). But now, the car seems to overheat when it feels like it, but the needle bounces around, even when air moving through, even when fan running. This seems to be unrelated to my initial problem, but maybe it's exacerbating it???? Or, vice versa, maybe the engine is overheating much easier now because this problem is laboring more??? The radiator is filled to the max line.

2 Honda dealerships and 3 independent places in the last two years have insisted it's not the transmission or anything related to it (which confuses my logic because the main symptom is an inability to get into the next gear). Why are the plugs going dead so quickly? Something underlying causing them to go? Battery fine, now, but actually it feels like I've had to replace the battery too many times in 2 years.

Last thing...After the flood situation I spoke about, before fixing or mentioning the computer, they insisted they needed to replace the starter. I said yes and they did, but then said, oh it's also a computer problem. But I failed to believe that they replaced the starter because their part department called me the next day to tell me my starter had arrived (it arrived after they installed it????). I think the computer was sufficient to solve the particular side issue and they charged me for a starter I never received. I confronted them about this, but they got in my face about it. A mechanic I visited next for the radiator crack that the dealership failed to notice said the starter did not look new at all when I asked him if they had replaced it.

I don't know who to trust anymore and if I'm just being bled of money for coils and service checks that don't find a problem when the real problem is a transmission or spark plug related and could be resolved once and for all.

I started having trouble with my Honda back in 2012 when I bought it. It broke down on me 3 times and the Honda dealership replaced the engine. HOWEVER, AFTER they replaced the engine in my car, it started making a "knocking" noise like it was the Cylinder heads or something, I took it to 2 different Honda locations and they told me the "knocking" noise was normal. now the "knocking" has gotten worse and the car "vibrates" (steering wheel, seats, dash, engine, etc.) when I CRANK IT UP and its still in PARK. I was told by the HONDA dealership that it is normal for a V6 engine to make the noise and to shake....Funny the first motor they replaced didn't make that noise or shake.

Engine shuddering began approx 2 months after the purchase of the car in 2009. First time was on a trip, shuddering, engine light on, pulled over and called the nearest dealership - they told us to bring it in ASAP. On the way we stopped for gas, when we turned the car back on the light was off and the shuddering had stopped - just a computer glitch perhaps. Fast forward to about 8 months later, same situation only worse. This time we were local and called the dealership where we bought the car, we were told to shut the car down and they would come get it. The car was towed to the dealership where they could not duplicate the shuddering or locate a code on the computer - solution - bring it back when it does it again. About 6 month’s later, same situation, same results. Turn the car off and then back on and the shuddering stops, no light, no code logged in the computer. Took it to the dealership, same response - bring it back when it is doing it. About 6 to 8 months after that, shuddering one more time - this time took it straight to the dealership without turning the car off so they could see the problem.

Finally they were able to identify the problem as a fouled spark plug and fixed the problem.

When trying to maintain constant speed on a flat roadway (typically 30-45 mph), even with cruise control on, the car seems to occasionally (maybe once a minute or so) lurch (decel and/or accel). I honestly can't say what could be causing it, but here are some possibilities: AC compressor on/off, "ECO"/Variable Cylinder Management switching on/off, transmission fluid change to "new and improved" fluid from Honda, etc. I haven't found a fix yet, but I'm determined. I'll bring it in to Honda soon, but I know they're just going to say "we can't replicate it", so I'm waiting for some more evidence or details to help understand the problem more. This is one of many small annoyances/issues that I've had with this car... I bought a honda so that I wouldn't have problems like this; I'm reconsidering.

Engine appears to shudder while trying to maintain constant speed. Seems like it may be related to the kickng in-out of cylinders and the electronic dampening system. This started after about 3,000 miles. I also noticed loss of 1 qt oil at 4,000 miles and was experiencing poor fuel economy. Dealer said they couldn't diagnose any problem without any computer fault codes. Now, after 7,500 miles car is again 1 qt low on oil and shuddering continues. Intend to see the dealer about these problems. I am VERY disappointed in this Honda. I have owned at least 5 other accords without similar problems.

I purchased my 2009 Honda Accord EX 11/17/2008 and have taken my car back to the dealership 6 different times regarding the check engine light over 10 months. Scan System codes of P0302, P0303, and P0306. They have replaced coil packs, spark plugs, #3 and #6 fuel injectors, and still the issue seems to arise. Called Honda Customer Service line for assistance and they did not provide ANY assistance. They are satisfied that these are covered by the Honda Warranty. I am not satisfied AT ALL.

I have purchased 3 brand new cars over the past 7 years and they were Hondas. I have also owned 4 used ones in the past and have been a loyal customer. I have the opportunity to get discounts on GM cars and I have passed this up because of my loyalty to the Honda brand until NOW. I admit that I have high miles on the car for being just under a year old, but this is ridiculous for a Honda. I know this is rare for a Honda, but I got the bad one of the bunch for this years model. My last Honda!!!!!
