CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.
BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.
OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.
UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

We took the car in on 7-27-16 for three recalls, one was performed. At this time we are told no passengers in the passenger front seat. We were told the parts will be in 2-3 weeks, it's been almost two months. We cannot get any response from rock Honda in fontana, ca. I called american Honda - customer service. They informed the next update will ne in late fall 2016 - possible the end of December 2016. We cannot sell or trade this car in - we purchase brand new in 2008. It has been well kept and know we unable to use as intended. Who wants to ride in the back seat when only two persons in the car. This is embarrassing we have left the car parked more than used. One of the recalls is if you slam the doors when engine is on the air bags can deploy. The other is if air bag deploys it may cause metal fragments to injury persons in car. This is out 4th Honda - we own a 2016 Pilot now, just traded a 2011 Honda CRV. Had a 2009 Accord we traded for the 2008 Accord we have now. Really disappointed with the fact we cannot fully use or trade/sell this vehicle. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Takata inflator: "Honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed." I received the recall notice (16V-346) in July 2016, and as if September 1, 2016, the status was "recall status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available." It is unfair that Honda owners must avoid the front passenger seat of the vehicle for months, and remain uncompensated by the manufacturer. My family had to take a much less fuel-efficient vehicle on two already-planned trips (easton, pa, to erie, pa; easton, pa, to ottawa, Canada), as our ony other choice was for one spouse to sit in the back seat of our Honda Accord. We also have not yet received a remedy for recall 16V-056, another airbag-related issue.
Takata recall untimely replacement of SRS ECU - taking months to get this replaced, no date for replacement is available, driving with potentially corroded components and possible lack of deployment of airbags
Takata recall I know a lot of cars are affected by it is taking so long to get my airbags fixed. I have had passengers to sit in the back in fear of having their face mutilated by my air bags which are there for safety, not danger. Ridiculous.
