CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.
BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.
OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.
UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

The car caught on fire near the passenger front wheel, my home security camera, detected motion ( the flames) no modifications were ever done to my car The fire department wasn-??t able to determine the cause as 7 minutes passed before they arrived. The surveillance camera picked up motion 40 minutes before the fire when a car drove down my street. Yes it was 13 years old but it was regularly maintained by my mechanic and in excellent condition as I can provide pictures and full footage of the entire incident. If my vehicle had been parked in my garage it could-??ve burned down my house !! Fortunately it was parked on the curb in front of my house
I have been told my vehicle is a lemon. I believe the regular maintenance schedule that I have been adhering to should somewhat avoid this issue. I have went to two Honda Dealerships, Ed Napelton and one in Orland Park il. THREE weeks ago I drove and parked came back attempted to start and my Baby would not start. I noticed when i attempted to turn the key the needle would go to the top. I waited a while the car started took her in to wd Napelton, They kept telling me nothing was wrong. They said I could leave because they did not choose to figure out why my vehicle had just not started, so I went to my car to leave and she did not start right their in the parking lot. I went and go my mechanic and he tried to start it wouldn't start, he looked at the dash and said your car is overheating. Im asking why it was just here for a oil change and some other work prior to that. I had file a BBB complaint. The director called ke in for a meeting with the mechanic and from what they are saying because No one has given me anything in writing, I was told to be careful driving and every week My coolant should be topped off. They did say the coolant is leaking into my engine. I got a 3rd opinion and honda ahould have goven me a detailed description of the diagnosis. The sales department is bothering me about buying my car, I told them NO, I need my cat I cant afford another vehicle. My gut is telling me Honda has done thia to my engine thinking I will have to buy another Vehicle. Please Help Me get a proper diagnosis and I need to know how this issue was caused? My last recourse is speaking with ATTORNEY.
See attached file for more complete explanation. Honda service center is recommending I install 2 new axles. This car 2008 Honda Accord has only 55,000 miles on it and has not hit anything. Complaint filed with Honda and ftc. Details in attached document.
I have a 2008 Honda Accord that was purchased in Feb 2011. I have never had any major issues with this car in the past, besides replacing brakes. However, in the past year, I have noticed that my oil is burning much faster than it used to. I go to the dealer to have my oil changed per their instructions when the oil meter says 15%. however, I noticed that my car was running odd, even though my oil meter said 60%. I checked my oil dipstick to find that it was completely dry October last year, even though I just had an oil change 2 months before. I had to buy two quarts of oil to fill it back up. I suspected that the dealership (Honda of columbia) did not actually fill my oil, but charged me for it. I went to the Honda dealership in columbia, who insisted that they did fill my oil in October. Since that incident, my car has had to have frequent oil changes, due to the oil burning out quickly. I had an oil consumption test started in July 2019 at 147,384 miles and it showed my car burned a quart of oil in 2000 miles (149,230). The Honda dealership told me that it was 'normal' to burn one quart in 2000 miles because my car has many miles. Therefore, I had to buy another quart of oil to add to my car. I checked my oil yesterday (at 150,300 miles) and I have burned another quart. This time it was 1000 miles for one quart. It is concerning that my car has started to burn oil quickly when it did not before.
Honda put a recall on my car. They would delete or fix the recall. Nose mask, I never had a nose mask. They wasted a lot of my time. I went to Honda dealership twice. They just told me to call 1800-999-1009. They told me it is NHTSA's fault. Please investigate this case. Delete "the incompleted recall" from my vehicle's record.
Takata recall. Honda contacted me again regarding the takata airbag inflator. I traded this car into an Acura dealer approximately 10 years ago. I have contacted Honda by phone and mail 5 or 6 times yet they still haven't corrected this. Somewhere someone is driving a dangerous vehicle. I sure they could find this car if they followed up correctly. They are obviously not very concerned about safety.
The car is excessively burning oil. I have to add a quart of oil at least once a month. Before that I was getting oil changes frequently because the car was saying the oil was low.
Both front driver and passenger side air bag curtains that connect to the roof are leaking water into the vehicle when it rains. I'm aforesaid this could affect my airbag in the event of an accident. I never realized this is why my driver seats are wet when it rains.
I have replaced my leather seats twice and they are the ones from the dealer and they don't last buy a year and I am having to replace it. Also, I have replaced my console top compartment twice before the 36,000 miles on my car. Then they dealer ship said after that the warranty is only one year. The leather seats are expensive
Door lock, rear passenger side, automatically unlocks when I lock the doors. This has happened before on the driver side, rear door and was replaced due to recall.
