My 2008 Honda Accord had a engine light come on during highway driving. I stopped at an auto parts store to read the code "cyl 3 mis-fire". I took the car to my Honda dealer where they replaced plugs 1-3 due to excessive fouling, meaning the car is burning oil and was 1-1/2 qts low since my oil change < 2000 ago. Honda also checked the cylinder as sometimes the plug comes apart dropping pieces in the cylinder. Mine was clean otherwise they would need to pull the head. They advised me to check the oil level often as there is an oil problem that there is not currently a cure for. I plan on trading the car ASAP which is really upsetting as this was my 12th Honda and until now i've never had an issue.

This is my second complaint regarding the spark plugs. My check engine light came on at 33k and spark plugs were replaced and i was told the issue was resolved, but now, once again, the check engine light has come on at 37k miles. I took the car to the same dealership were it was serviced the first time, and after inspection was told that the spark plugs needed to be replaced due to corrosion AGAIN! so replacing spark plugs twice before the car even hit 40,000 miles! WTF, i am angry and Honda tells me that they don't know why they have to be replaced again. I CALL BS!

If you are having problems with burning oil and burning up spark plugs, you will want to pay close attention...My 2008 Honda Accord V6 with variable cylinder management is burning up oil and spark plugs. It has 52,000 miles on it. THe first oil problem where it ran almost out without warning was at about 20,000 miles, then at 30,000 miles a plug burned up. Now at 52,000 miles a second plug has gone...Obviously all these cause the engine light to come on. Instead of going to the dealer I had to pull over to a service station. The mechanic pulled all 6 spark plugs...pay close attention folks! He marked each plug from each cylinder as 1-6. My car coded that cylinder 3 was the problem and sure enough the plug was burned and the ceramic at the end was burned up. We laid them out and noted that the plugs from cylinder 1-3 were burning up(3 was the one coding and he replaced it. we looked at cylinder 2 plug that had been replaced just 20,000 miles ago and it is not far from being burned up again. Cylinder 1 is also very bad and close to going. Ready for it guys and gals!!! The plugs from cylinders 4-6 look almost like new. I took pictures and hope they come through with this complaint..I asked the 2 mechanics what they would say to Honda when I bring my car in to them as it still has 8k miles left on the warranty and they said ask for a new engine as there is no way Honda can conclude why 3 cylinders on the same side of the engine are burning up. I have the plugs stored in a safe place because they are key to my complaint I am about to lodge...and what good will it do to replace the engine if the new one will do the same thing? I am past lemon law complaints but, not past warranty. I will be sharing my complaints with federal oversight organizations once I figure out who regulates them.

I bought my 2008 honda accord in August 2008. I bought this car brand new. And at about 40000 miles I'm driving along my check engine light starts blinking and my car is hesitating. It was a very bad ride. Take it to the shop. And I'm told that its my spark plugs. The mechanic cleaned the one he said was mis firing. A few months later it happens again. Now I'm told that I need to replace my spark plugs. On a car that is supposse to go at least 1,000,000 miles before they are replaced. Come on Honda.

Now I see Honda has been trying to cover this problem of the spark plug fouling out. # 3 keeps coming up on the diagnosis to have a problem w/ misfire.The Honda dealer , at 34,000 changed all the injectors, so they say,this seemed to fix the problem. They probably just changed the # 3 plug. I went back in at 46,000 miles and they wanted to change injectors 1&3 again. I thought crap! why did I pay so much $ for this so called reliable car?

I'm glad to at least to be getting to the bottom of this problem. The dealer charged me about $5oo.oo to flush the fuel system at 44,000 ( a little steep don,t you think?) Other dealers charge about $150.00.This did not do anything to fix the problem.It is now obvious we need a class action suit.Will this spark plug problem be an ongoing problem for us? Will Honda ever make good for us? A $30,000 car and I've felt like I've had an old car .CRAP! I should have kept my old 2002 Chevy Malibu. It was a better car.

I've been experiencing some of the same problems mentioned here. The first time, my car sounded like a diesel truck. Car was cutting out and running poorly. By the time I got it to the dealership, several warning lights were on. I took it in, they thought I had put the wrong type of gas or diesel in it. NOT! After paying for them to diagnose and change the spark plug it cost me close to $150.00. Today, just 2 months later, on my way to work, car starts missing and cutting out. Check engine light is flashing. Take it immediately to dealership and later find out its the same thing. I too was told Honda is working on a fix, they replaced the plug and told me once Honda comes up with a fix I will be reimbursed for my first repair. Like others, when I had my oil changed was told my car was low on oil and they mentioned finding oil on the plug or something. I apologize I'm not a "gear" head. Anyway, I'm very upset because I bought a new car so I would not have these types of problems and repairs and this is my only vehicle to get back and forth to work in my 1hr and 15minute commute. I need a reliable car.

I commute to work 90+ miles every day. I bought a brand new 2008 Honda Accord in December 2007 and have nothing but issues. After 1 month the car completely died on me and had to be towed due to the "key" so I should have known there was an issue. (Not to mention the car dealer completely lied to me about the NJ Lemon Law)

After a little under 2 years I was driving on a major highway when my car completely started to jerk as if it was about to stall. When I brought it in I found out my spark plugs were completely fried. (BTW it took them 2 weeks to figure this out!) 6 months later same exact issue...jerking on the highway, nearly stalled...shocker it was the spark plugs fried again.

Honda has been no help and because the salesman lied to me after the first 2 issues I had about the lemon law I am no longer able to open up a lemon law case! I am looking into opening a complaint with the BBB and getting a lawyer involved. I work too hard for my money to eat this loss!

I have a 2008 Honda Accord EXL-V6, which I purchased in July of 08. This is my third Honda Accord and must say I may never buy another one. I've already experienced rear brake issues, which Honda finally recognized, but my recent break down is the final straw. On my way home from work, my check engine light activates and my car comes to a hesitating stop...no power! I had the vehicle towed and was told that I had a misfire in cylinder 3. Mechanic replaced all six spark plugs, which Honda didn't have in stock, and found all six plugs were fouled and # 3 had a cracked tip. 50,000 miles and I need new plugs? What happened to the 100,000 mile tune-up? I find it interesting that others have had this problem. At this point, I'm very concerned because the engine seems to run rough at times and there also seems to be power loss in certain situations. If anyone else has this issue please post or trade immediately!!!

The check engine light was going on and off for a couple of days. The computer showed a possible misfire in cylinder #3. They checked the spark plug for #3 cylinder and it had only half of its electroid (other half had been burnt off). The other plugs were supposedly good. They were only authorized to replace the bad plug because they are expensive. Had no explanation why plug was bad, tried to say bad plug which seems bogas to me but they are satisfied because the light stays off. At least I have extended warranty and will see if it happens again.

I bought a 2008 Honda Accord in June of 08. Haven't had any major problems. Rear brakes had to be replaced @25k. Last month, the check engine light started coming on and it was idling really rough. I took it in to the dealer and they flushed the fuel injectors. $150 later...and thought the problem was solved. The engine light came on again about a week later. I again took it in to the dealer. Only this time they came back and told me they had found oil on a spark plug and in the combustion chamber. They told me they had called Honda, but Honda did not have a fix yet. WTF!!!!! So I hesitantly took the car back and have opened a case with Honda. They have called me and say they are "investigating it further." I will be taking it in weekly to have the oil level checked until they have a fix. I am considering trading it in for AMERICAN!!!!

I purchased My new V-6 Accord Coupe in August of 2008, I thought I had made a great purchase from a highly regarded Manufacturer.

If I had only known about the problems that Honda would experience with this engine and its reliability I would not have purchased this car.

As many of the reports posted in this forum indicate severe Oil consumption in this Honda V6 , my car has been no exception. Recently I took my car to Livermore Honda with complaints of Power loss, Engine missing in mid range power band, and all warning lights being displayed on the dash. The Dealer called me later that day to inform me that a spark plug had fouled and that a small piece of the porcelain on the tip of the spark plug had broken away and fallen down into the cylinder head. They indicated that they could find no evidence of damage to the cylinder wall, but that they would be removing the head to inspect further. they also notified me that this engine has had some issues with valve seals, and that they would be removing the head from from the engine to get new valve seals. I questioned the service writer about the decision to do only one of the heads, his response was that this problem is either there when the motor is manufactured or it is not, in other words, if its not broke, dont fix it.

I am very concerned about this problem as i use my car for work and the reason I purchased it in the first place was because of the reputation that Honda has of being a reliable car that will last a long time. this problem, if not under warranty could cost thousands to repair. I am now looking for a solution to this concern, I insisted that Honda put a new short block in the car and they refused. Does any one out there have any ideas or recommendations for me?
