CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.
BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.
OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.
UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.
2008 ACCORD HAS POOR LEATHER (ACTUALLY IT IS NOT LEATHER) QUALITY ON THE ARMREST FOR THE 4 DOORS AND THE CENTER CONSOLE. I ALREADY REPLACED THE CENTER CONSOLE AT 55K MILES AND THE 4 DOORS ARMREST AT 80K. THE LEATHER QUALITY OF THE SEATS IS A MUCH BETTER.
AIR CONDITIONING MUST HAVE A LEAK BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN FILLED TWICE. ARM LEATHER COMPLETELY BROKEN, BRAKES HAD TO BE CHANGE AS EARLY AS 4 MONTH. NOT SECURE CAR IN FLOODS.
Update from Mar 4, 2015: IF YOU WANT A CAR, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR FOR WARM COUNTRIES
We have always purchased Hondas, never had any interior problems. and when I called to complain they said we where out of warranty, and as for my mileage on my console it was 15,000, I put mileage that we have now... Hondas make great cars and reliable because my husband drives a 96 accord just for work. and I purchased that car in 1998 and never had any problems. was very disappointed in their interior defects ...Hondas are going down in workmanship and they're suppose to hold their value. my daughter purchased a 2009 honda accord just like mine and the gentleman she bought it from had the same problem
What suppose to be a leather interior turns out that the armrest is cheap vinyl and wears out very quickly. Why did Honda go Cheap here? The Arm rest is an area that gets a lot of wear. Very Disappointed in Honda. Honda is loosing its quality control from the design on down.

I have contacted Honda about this problem but because my car was over the limited wear and tear mileage warranty they would not replace it without me paying out of my pocket for a whole new console. Then i would be charged to have it installed at a total cost of approximately 300 dollars which is absurd .. also before the warranty was up on the car my leather on my driver seat tore and they replaced it but would not replace my arm rest so now it looks awful i will post pictures soon. And i cant do anything about it but pay a ton of money to get it replaced. So i think Honda is putting cheap leather in there cars now. i think everyone should consider this before purchasing one and they should have way better warranties than they do on the wear and tear of the seats and thing of that nature.
