Honda Accord 07 EX V6 Automatic Poor Acceleration. This car does virtually nothing even when the accelerator is practically floored. The dealer explained that the slow and lumbering acceleration was due to something called a flyover device that causes the accelerate command to modulate to save fuel. So, I suppose it is no use to spend lots of money for a top of the line Honda that is a turtle; and has very poor, mushy and rapidly grinding away brakes.
Again, Honda's halo is slipping. I would buy a Civic if it were larger; or a BMW if their longevity and reliability were better; because Beemers have awesome acceleration, braking, cornering, and handling ability; not to mention the cachet and envy they envoke. Downside: Beemers reportedly have electrical and other reliability problems; and are expensive to repair out of warranty. Ditto for Benzes whose quality has deteriorated significantly over the years.
Bottom line, consumers need much more say regarding how cars are built and designed. It should be more of what the consumer wants; and not what the government says; or how car makers interpret gov regulations, or what car makers say consumers must accept. Next to mortgage or rent, a car payment is the biggest expense for most of us. Most of us live in virtual poverty for years; while we forsake many pleasures and luxuries until our cars are paid off. We therefore have a right and a say about how well our cars are made.
