I own a Honda Accord 2.2 ex manual purchased from new always serviced at Honda dealer,a few months ago I smelt exhaust fumes in the car, told dealer, they knew what it was straight away, cos these vehicles had an inherent fault as Honda UK had sent a bulletin to all dealers on 22 Jan 2008 warning of faulty welds on the manifolds, but dealers did not warn owners or recall the vehicles.so we all had to drive around in these mobile gas chambers until we realize that ! hey my heater and air vents are pumping carbon monoxide straight into my lungs,no noise of blowing exhaust was evident.
My warranty said the exhaust was covered for 5 years unlimited mileage so I put in a claim, which Honda rejected,as they say the warranty is for perforation not cracks,I guess that due to Honda's cavalier attitude to its customers health very soon someone will pass out at the wheel or suffer irreparable lung damage.
I thought Honda took safety seriously but I am proof that they don't give a xxxx the new manifold is made of good old cast iron, the crappy faulty one is two piece and I have never seen so many welds,no wonder they fail. I am now in the process of suing the dealer under the Sale of goods act 1979. I never thought that the Honda corp would make me fight all the way.guess which car I wont be buying again or recommending,
