A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Over the past two years, I have been fighting a losing battle to the root cause of the wet trunk of our 2007 Honda Accord (manual). The wheel well, where the spare is kept, keeps filling up with water and the floor of the trunk gets wet and moulders. I spoke to a very concerned, but ultimately not helpful, guy in our local Honda service dept., who had not come across the issue (he did kindly suggest drying the trunk and lightly "coating' the floor of trunk and hosing the vehicle which might expose a 'trail' on powder to determine the origin of the leak.

Anyway, about a month ago, after drying the trunk out, I took the vehicle to a body shop which performed a lengthy & thorough water test to see how/where the water was getting in, but after dousing the roof/sides/windows/bumpers, etc. the trunk remained bone dry. Over the weeks, with the vehicle exposed to rainy weather, the spare wheel well is once again full of water and the trunk floor is sopping (the sides of the trunk, curiously, are not wet).

HELP!!

(Thanks)

Update from Jul 14, 2015: Bill M. was kind enough to suggest I replace both trunk light gaskets which corrected the problem! No more leaky trunk or damp carpet! Spare tire well has been bone dry!

I had a very slight accident 2 months after I bought this car ( was rear ended while merging-they merely rolled into me-slight damage ) That was over 2 years ago. Because of this Honda would not honor warranty-even though car trunk was dry for over 2 years! They said the taillight gasket SHOULD solve it though they wouldn't guarantee it. The rain water would fill the spare tire well and when the car was moved water would slosh and soak the trunk. When I told them there also was water on the rear floor carpet they wanted $200 to check it out!! I have since found out that the water on the rear carpet also came from the spare tire pond-THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT. I did not pay them to check out the rear carpet wetness. Charged me $162.00 and when I picked the car up the taillight didn't work-had to take it back for them to attach wiring. Oh, and when I picked up my car after paying all that money for a warranty repair, the trunk was still wet-they didn't bother to dry it out!! I'm sure they would charge me for the rust that would ensue if it remained wet. I feel I've been taken for a ride by Honda, and after buying 6 Hondas I feel they couldn't care less about me as a customer. I am extremely disappointed in Honda. I don't know if the taillight gasket fixed the problem as I'm afraid to take it out in the rain. I never expected this level of service from Honda. Being it's a lease and it's almost up I opted to pay the bill and garage the car in rainy weather till I can turn it in.

Every time it rains, the trunk fills up with 1 -2 inches of water. The leak is coming thru the rear tailight assembly.Honda refuses to fix the problem, because it was discovered after I had 35,000 miles on the car. The car has never been in an accident. I would like to know if anyone else has a similar problem.

3x to the dealer under warranty. Trunk leaks 2-3" of rain water. From under LR wheel well. Dealer cannot id issue. They have replaced rotting areas inside trunk. Trunk int panels and drain plugs and tail lamps have been replaced. They have found 4 different leaking areas. From the Tail light to the body seam to the wheel well welding to the drain plug areas. I have called Honda Cust Service. Servicing dealership very nice (sympathetic) but cant fix. But thats not all car makes popping noises when changing gears. 2nd issue Dealer says its normal. I told them 3x that it is not. Best part is Servicing dealer keeps asking me where I purchased car and that I should go back to them. Nearest dealer is 50 miles one way. Purchased car 150 miles away. I said so if I purchased the car in Hawaii I should take it there???? 5000 miles away. THANK GOD ITS A LEASE!. Sending cert letter to Honda asking to resolve issue under lemon law and to terminate lease. Had car 8 months. Even servicing dealer agrees that they have never seen this bad of a body problem in an accord b4. They have asked me repeatedly if the car was in an accident. I leased the car with 4 miles. The car was still in body plastic wrap. Stated to them if car was dropped or damaged off delivery train or truck it was not disclosed to me.

I should have bought the civic. My 4th Honda. 1994 civic 1998 civic 2005 S2000 and 2007 accord coupe (lemon) Had not one problem with the other cars.
