The seats to the 2007 Honda Accord are very uncomfortable. I commute about 1.5 hours per day round-trip and began to feel that I couldn't get comfortable in the driver seat. The neck rest protrudes uncomfortably forward and causes me to assume a chin-to-chest posture as I drive. I had no other injury and am not at all overweight and have no other preexisting conditions. I have taken a full round of chiropractic visits and 2 full series of physical therapy visits and am starting to get some relief as long as I stretch and do my exercises. I think the seat is to blame. My wife has also complained when she uses my car that the seat is very uncomfortable and hurts her back after driving it.

I am so disappointed with the car more and more every day. The seats are terrible and after about 30 minutes of driving it feels like you are sitting on a brick. Actually a brick would be an improvement. I was thinking about getting another honda but after these complaints I will look elsewhere for a new car.

I used to own a '98 Accord EX. The seats were fine, but when I started driving longer, they became a real pain. They are very uncomfortable and force you to shift your back around a lot when driving. Throughout the whole time driving, my car would constantly hurt. This exact problem is present in the '07 Accord too. I'm trying to find some kind of accessory to hopefully fix this...

Update from Jul 15, 2012: I went to my local Walmart and bought a seat cushion (something that cushions your back and your bottom), and the seat has been a lot more comfortable.

I find the front seat to be reasonable uncomfortable. When raising the seat with the manual pump the angle of the seat bottom doesn't change. This causes a relatively too high front of seat bottom that cuts off blood to lower legs/pressure point under thigh. To any who care I am an average height/weight 5'9" 165#. A switch that allows either or both front and back of seat bottom to tilt/raise when pumped would be helpful. This is the LX not the EX. I would like a better seat, not alloy wheels sun roof v6 upgraded cd leather power seats etc. If I could get just a well designed functioning power seat I may part with cash.

Accord EX-L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,600 miles

I bought this car for its reliability ratings and for highway driving. I did not know that a car's seat can be the source of so many problems. When I picked the car at a dealership I thought it would make a great car, quiet V6, good handling. I do not know what exactly is wrong with the seat, is it the design, cushion, lumbar support or all of these. I have an 8 way power driver seat and all 8 ways are uncomfortable. Telescoping steering wheel is no good either, it is still too far from me. After driving more than 1 hour I develop upper and lower back and neck pain, I ended up in physical therapy. This is by far the worst seat I ever experienced, what a piece of junk! In my 97 Toyota Avalon I could drive over 2000 miles and still felt good and comfortable, I did three cross country trips and always felt well. If I were to ever attempt that in 2007 Honda Accord, I would end up in rehabilitation medicine or could risk spinal injury. If it results in any injury to the spine, it will make a strong legal case. I regret I bought this car. I am severely disappointed with all the problems I encountered in this Honda. After the ordeal with my first car - 91 Accord this is my second and last Honda. My other car - old Toyota Avalon is an impeccable car despite age and mileage.

Accord LX 4 Cylinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

I would STRONGLY CAUTION anyone that has ever even had 10 seconds of back pain or leg pain in their entire life to avoid this car AT ALL COSTS. I am a person that rarely has back discomfort, in fact I don't believe I've ever been treated for anything related but after one hour in this car my right leg went numb for 2 hours. There is no support whatsoever and the seats are similar to sitting on bluestone. Two additional trips produced the same result. A great powertrain and you can't enjoy one second of it because you're in constant pain. A Chevy Malibu or a Toyota Camry are far superior choices in terms of comfort. Very dissapointed in Honda for burying their heads on this issue.

Shortly after I purchased a used 2007 Accord SE V6 and I noticed that my back was in considerable discomfort and pain and I belive it is directly related to the design of the seat. The seat applies pressure to the center of my mid-back, which results in both lower and upper back pain. I try to compensate by using a rowed up towel to change the pressure point with mixed results. The foam in the seat is firm and unfortunately there is not lumbar support adjustment. I am going to take this vehicle to a customer seat repair shop and have them change the configuration. I am very disappionted in this Honda, I had much higher expectations from a HONDA.

Accord SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,775 miles

I just bought a used 2007 Honda Accord SE 4 speed automatic with very low miles to replace a Nissan Altima with a blown engine a few days ago. I test drove it and it appeared to be a great car at a good price. I bought the car from a dealer about 100 miles from my home because of the price and conditon of the car. While I was driving it home, about an hour into the drive my right leg began aching, then my bottom began hurting and finally my foot seemed to go numb. I almost couldn't finish driving it home because it was causing me so much pain. I have never had any issues with my back before, but when I finally got back home, I was almost crippled from the seat. I had to stay home from work the next day due to back ache issues.

Now whenever, I get in the car, within 5 minutes my lower back begins to ache even when I use a cushion to pad my back. It takes hours after getting out of the car to have the pain lessen, but it doesn't go away because I have to use my car several times a day. My daughter has driven the car and she has the same issues. After viewing this site, I know it's not just me.

I've talked to the dealer, but CA no longer has a buyer's remorse law so I would lose several thousand dollars if I returned the car. I'm looking into replacing the seats, but it doesn't look like it will be possible because the only seat that might help and fit in the car is the leather one with an electric seat. I've been told that replacing the seat with another type would cause the car to lose the safety air bags. I'm going to try getting a lumbar cushion to see if it helps. If a lumbar cushion doesn't help and I can't find another solution, then I'll return the car at a loss to save my back.

My family has beem buying Hondas for years, but not this particular year and model, and we've never had issues with any other Honda that we've owned over the years. If anyone is aware of a lawsuit dealing with this issue or knows about another means of eliminating the problem, I would be interested in receiving your comments.

Accord LX V4

  • Manual transmission
  • 18,000 miles

The 2007 Accord LX manual is my fourth honda accord. I still have a 1998 accord lx manual that drives beautifully. Sometime around 2006 or 2007 Honda started using some type of manual cranking system for raising and lowering the driver's seat height. This was some cheap design which makes it impossible to find a comfortable driving position. For example, if you want to raise the seat height, it only raises the front of the seat leaving your behind down in a hole and your legs up in the air. Whoever designed this clearly doesn't own or drive one. I have 18000 miles on the car but i hate driving it so much because of the seats that I almost always drive the 1998 model which has 2 controls (front and back seat height adjustment). It's sad that such a great car can be ruined by a poor design choice..

Seats are like sitting on park benches. These are by far the worst seats that I have ever encountered in a mid size semi luxury sedan. I am very careful how I use the word luxury around this piece of sh*t, for a car. About a half hour is all I can take in this thing. I do not know how others view the seats, but again HONDA better pull up their damned socks, because I am embarrassed to say I own one now.

Accord EXL V4

Like the car for the most part, but seats are too small for me (6' & 200 pounds). Felt ok when test driving, but notice it in my 45 minute everyday commute now. I bought the car with the 4 cylinder for the gas mileage & can only get 26.4 mpg on the highway. Sticker says 34 mpg highway. I was expecting 31-32. Dealership says it needs to "Break-in" & as it was still cold out (Michigan), additives in the fuel can cause 20% poorer fuel mileage. Sounds like a bunch of Monkey Shine to me. Recommend the V6 for anyone looking to buy one & wait until 2008 when the new body comes out, may have better seating and fuel rating should be more accurate. Overall, nice car, but they should tell what the gas mileage reality is upfront. Disappointing mileage.

Sharp hip pain while driving the car, then you start feeling the same pain in your knee. After you get out of the car you need a moment before you can walk. Going up a couple of stairs is painful. I will sell the car and never buy a Honda again.
