As a Honda Accord owner for 30-1/2 years I am very, very displeased with the lack of longevity of the Clear Coat on my current 2006 Accord.

My 2006 Honda Accord Coupe -San Marino Red – Clear Coat on the front bumper started peeling about Dec 2016 just under the headlight area. Peeling has continued across entire bumper, which is plastic by the way. Additionally, there are peeling spots starting on the top of my rear spoiler and on top of both side mirrors. It seems it started primarily on the plastic or non-metal surfaces.

I am the original owner, the car has never been through a commercial car wash (only washed & waxed by hand), and only has 65,000 miles on it.

My previous 1988 Accord Coupe-Silver, which I owned for 18 years [224,000 miles], never had so much as a peel of paint or spot of rust. Both cars lived entirely outside in NJ.

The Dealer’s Service Dept referenced other models & year [Civic] which had a problem “but not mine”. Ok, so they painted each model differently?? There is ‘clearly’ a problem with the Clear Coat Honda used [everywhere].

This is going to continue peeling exposing the flat paint underneath, leaving no protection & no waxing will ever help. I certainly cannot afford to have my entire car painted on a very limited income.

I love my Honda Accord but it looks older and definitely depreciates the value when it looks beat up. I work in the automotive business and I've recently seen an increase in this problem on Honda Accords and Civics from 2000 to 2009. I've read Honda claims this is normal wear and tear. I find that hard to believe when my brothers 2007 Toyota Corolla's paint job still looks like factory color. Is this the major difference between the two?Honda's look like crap over time and Toyota's stay awesome?

The paint job is terrible on this car and Honda does not take responsibility for it. Honda should step up and fix the problems to keep customers happy.

The paint on my vehicle is leaving white patches on my black car. The patches are on the hood, roof, and trunk..........for now. It started on the trunk and quickly infected other areas. The dealers stated "there no warranty". "There is no recall on paint jobs." I went to the auto paint shop that Honda uses for an estimate. I was told it was cost about $3500 to start. However, I was informed to go to Honda because it appeared to be a defective paint job. There was no reason my 2006 should be in such bad shape.

I always wondered what the deal was with the paint job. The front bumper is horrible, big chips of clear missing, and I big chunk missing on left front fender. Then I notice a real chappy clear job on the rest of the car, a giant sag near the antenna. I knew there was no way that could have made it out of the paint shop. I'm guessing the previous owner tried to correct the problem. The car was previously in Texas before I got it, and it looks as though the climate has a lot to do with it from the looks of the locations people are reporting it from. That is definitely not a problem in Ohio. The paint job was a big mystery, could never figure it out. But now it all makes sense.

My '06 Accord has either been garaged and/or kept under covered parking since the day I brought it home from the dealership brand new. Six years later, I noticed a cloudy faded area on the trunk. Couple days later, another spot on the trunk. Then a spot on the roof, right above the rear window. There is no good reason why this should have happened. I chose to purchase this particular vehicle because of its reliability and excellent resale value. Who is going to want to buy it with clear coat peeling off???

I spent six long years paying this car off with extremely low mileage and in like-new condition, to only have the paint start to peel off??? I went online trying to find a way to fix it and stumbled upon HUNDREDS, if not thousands, of people with the EXACT same issue with their Hondas. From what I've read so far, its a known fact within the auto paint business that Honda is guilty of either using low quality clear coat, or using just enough to last through the warranty period.

I searched to see if there was a pending class action law suit but found nothing. I'm beyond pissed. I will never buy another Honda.

I bought the vehicle pre-owned from a Honda dealership in Texas. Summertime of last year the clear coat on the trunk began to lift up and peeling away. Within a month it had spread to the top of the read window, and all along the top of the driverside door/driver side passenger door. My girlfriend had the car looked at, and I was quoted at almost $3,000 to have the car stripped/re-painted. NO WAY! Also, the guy who looked at the car told her that the entire hood never had a clear coat on it, and now has tiny spots of rust.

The paint on the lip surrounding the top and left side of the rear windshield is peeling and flaking down to the metal. I brought it by a couple of auto body places and they said the proper fix would be to sand down and repaint the hood as well left quarter panel. It is only a matter of time before the paint starts peeling off the roof.

Really upset that the clear coat seems to be peeling off my vehicle. Every time it rains it seems that another section starts to peel. The car looks awful. This is my main vehicle that I drive everywhere, and it looks horrible. Won't be looking at any other Honda vehicles in the future as a replacement vehicle.

After a particularly hot day last summer, I went out to my car the following morning to find an area on the trunk and rear quarter panel with faded paint. Literally overnight it went from having a flawless paint job to having the typical Honda clear-coat failure and loss of paint. I took it to Honda and they informed me that it was normal wear and tear. They also completed a search in their recall system, which did not reveal any recalls or paint warranty extensions. Therefore, they referred me to their autobody man to get an estimate for my own out-of-pocket repair.

Now then, you must know me in order to know that my car's paint job has been well cared for since I purchased her as a CPO in Feb 2007. I clay bar it once yearly and regularly wash and wax with high-end products. In no way could the paint randomly disappearing from my car be "normal wear and tear," when I take such great care of it.

Hopefully enough people will complain so that Honda offers a paint warranty extension like they did for the 2005 Odysseys. That warranty was extended to 7 years from purchase date, which would be perfect for my 2006.
