CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

Loss of lights on controls for heating, defrost and all other climate controls. Over a period of several weeks, I had an intermittent loss of backlight to the climate controls for my car. This presents a hazard during nighttime driving as the dome lights must be switched on and it takes longer to find the appropriate control for defrost for the windshield. This is also related to the backlight on the radio, which was a known problem with Honda Accord for a very long time. The lights would go out, then come back on again when I went over a bump or turned the headlights on or off (indicating an electrical instead of bulb problem). The loss of function increased gradually in terms of number of outages, length and duration. The car was taken in after two near accidents due to trying to turn on the defroster while driving. Despite a known problem with prior year Accord in the exact same system, for which Honda has issued recalls, I did have to pay for the repair.
: the contact stated while driving various speeds and hitting bumps, the vehicle bounced. The dealer determined the vehicle performed as designed. Also, to defog the windshield the heater has to be on. The dealer indicated the defogger performed as designed. The contact further stated while driving various speeds in wet weather, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was maneuvered off the road and restarted. It was driven to the dealer who could not duplicate the problem.
