CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.
Car was purchased in 08/2008, and power steering issues have been taking place since 11/2010. Each year something in the power steering area (i.e., hose, O ring, pump, hose, rack) has had an issue, every year! I have documentation showing each repair. The most recent was on 10/01/2015, total cost $1,288.82.
Honda has had a recall for power steering issues, and will now not take responsibility for the issue due to my extended warranty being expired. Warranty or not, the car obviously has issues when it was made. Now I have to pay for it!! I believed Honda was a reputable company, now I believe they are truly crooks that do not care! I will never buy Honda again! And will make sure to tell all of the people I come into contact with to never buy a Honda as well!
Power steering was leaking. A recall for Honda Accords just came out and still, but we had to pay the Honda dealer for this as they don't want to acknowledge this is probably part of the recall.
