CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.

The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.

Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

The SRS light came on without an accident. I had the fault code read before bringing the car to Honda. The fault code was a bad sensor only. Honda replaced the sensor and the SRS control unit as well. With low mileage on the car I called Honda Motors customer service. They looked into the issue and determined the repairs were needed and they could not help in any way. Repairs cost $750.01

I received the first recall notice from Honda for airbag inflator problem in April 2015. I promptly called a dealer to set up service for the recall, but they said they had to get the parts in. I called again after two weeks and still no parts. I just received another recall notice from Honda for the same problem, but have not received a call back from the dealer to do the service. It has now been three months. Why would Honda send out the recall and not have the parts for the dealers to replace?

Driving South on I 81 at approximately mm 167.3. heard a very loud noise, thought I might have had a blow out. There was a burning smell so I thought my car was on fire and I pulled off on the left hand side of the interstate. No flat, nothing burning, no damage to car. Got back in my car and realized passenger side airbags from front to back had deployed, that is what I was smelling but at the time I did not realize my airbags had deployed. I was alone but there is a child car seat in my backseat and if one of my grandchildren had been in the car seat or a passenger in the front seat they could have been badly injured. My car is currently at the Honda dealership and they have provided me a loaner vehicle at no cost to me. They did call this morning to verify that I had not ran over anything or hit anything. There is not damage to my vehicle. The Honda dealership told me they would give me a call once they figured this all out. I am now waiting to see what the outcome will be.
