CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2000 Honda Accord suffers from widespread transmission failure, subframe rust, & problems with the airbag system (SRS). We recommend avoiding this model year like the plague.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Subframe rust near the front passenger side wheel has become a problem recently, due to the poorly positioned A/C drain hose directly above that area. Repair cost to the subframe is over $2,000.
The SRS warning light likes to come on due to a defective seat belt sensor -- typically the driver's side. This sensor is covered under Honda's lifetime seat belt warranty, but some dealers charge a $100+ "diagnostic fee" or tell customers the entire SRS unit ($800) is bad.

When car is driven during hot days and you turn the car off, it will not start again tell the car cools off. This happens during the summer months.now that the car is older, it will not start at all during some of the hot days. This include when I start the car for first time that day. Took the car in once years ago and they said they fixed it but I keep having the same problem. They wanted to charge me more money to try to fix it again. Front passage headlights always been foggy. Car also never hugged the road right. Dealership could never find the problem.
The dashboard illumination lighting failed on my Honda 2000 Accord ex V6 while driving during night time. The dimmer switch had no response to its control. Right now there is no lighting in the dashboard.
My nighttime dashboard lights have stopped working on my Honda Accord ex V6. I can no longer see my gauges at night. Doing some searching it appears that the multiplex control unit may have failed. It looks like Honda has recalled this on 2000 Accord LX V6 but not the ex.

The SRS light has come on my 2000 Accord. Now it is past the extended warranty of 10 years. I got suckered into paying $100 to Honda for them to diagnose. They came back and said the opds needs to be replaced and the airbag won't deploy because of the SRS light on. They wanted another $300 to replace. I decided not to replace because I am not convinced it won't fail again but now I am driving around knowing my airbags won't deploy. There is an obvious faultiness with the SRS and opds and I can't believe that Honda feel a warranty extension is sufficient. They should be recalling this serious safety problem.
www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2000/Honda/Accord/interior+lighting. I recently had this issue happen to my car while I was driving and I feared about not being able to get home that night. My dash lights went out and my tail lights and signal lights, but my headlights were still working. The recall includes only some 2000 Honda Accord models, and not all of them. Like the ones in the forum listed I myself was not included in this recall.
