CarComplaints.com Notes: 1997 is the last model year in the 5th generation of Accord. Which means it's also the last model year before problems like widespread transmission failure, subframe rust and peeling paint took over.
Does the 1997 have problems? Sure it does. Any car this old will. Some owners say their engine started to cut out around 147,000 miles. That's still not bad, and getting to 200,000+ miles isn't out of the question.
Does anyone believe a newer Accord will reach 200,000 miles?

Tire blew out on highway and ripped apart at tread. Tires are not even a year old. Tires were bought at pep boys and they refuse to replace tire. I did lose control of my car but luckily I was not driving fast.
While driving at any speed vehicle rode roughly and pulled to the right. Had taken vehicle to dealership, and was informed that tires were causing the problem. Mechanic noticed that all 4 tires separated, bulged, and broke radial belts. On the left front, the radial belt was pushing through and could be seen. Had the tires replaced. Tire size 185/65R15, and dot # hhnxdxcx2600; dot hhnxdxcx3000; dot hhnxdxcx4400. This problem was also reported to Michelin.
