I bought a brand new 2020 Genesis G70, and to my surprise, it made this loud clunking sound from what it seemed to be coming from the front passenger side tire when making left turns. It sounded like "duh duh duh," and made the whole car shake, as well. Additionally, the driver seat window made this weird sound whenever it went up and down, as if the glass had too much pressure against it. And, lastly, when driving on bumpy roads, the music from my phone would randomly turn on and play through the car speakers. After turning the music off, then the radio would automatically turn on. I seriously thought I was sold a used, wrecked car with a new body slapped on to make it look brand new. When I called the car salesman who sold me the questionable car, he assured me it was new and said he couldn't do anything about it, instructing me to take it to a service center.
I took it to 2 different service centers multiple times, and everyone kept telling me the car was fine, that it was supposed to make that sound because it's a rear wheel drive, and when driving through a crosswalk, it's susceptible to making that kind of noise, "blah blah blah." They were coming up with all different kinds of explanations that didn’t make any sense whatsoever!
After 3 long months of driving the problematic car, a guy from the high tech dept. at a third service center finally figured out was what wrong with the car. It was due to bad engine mounts! How Hyundai managed to install faulty engine mounts, put it on the market, and insist nothing was wrong with the car for over 3 months is utterly absurd to me! I'm sure driving it with bad engine mounts for 3 months didn't do the car any good.
When I bought this "luxury" sedan, I was expecting high quality and standards. I called Hyundai and asked for a refund or exchange because I was issued a faulty car. They said I’m stuck with what I’ve got. Here, in Korea, they have separate cars to test-drive in, and after choosing which car (model, color, options) you want, you’re stuck with the car they give you, even if they’re full of problems and defects like mine. So, I’m stuck with this car that I no longer trust or want. I regret paying all that money for what I got in return. If I wanted to get a defective car that I can’t fully trust, I would’ve bought a used car instead. It sure would have saved me a lot of money.
