I’ve read all about the GMC Yukons 2015-2016’s that the taillights that are LED have failed but the 2017’s aren’t covered under this recall!
This is ridiculous as my 2017 Yukons right rear LED taillight went out and it’s over $800 to replace as you can’t just replace the bulb since it’s LED!
Anyone heard of the recall will be changed to include 2017’s?
The tail light gets fog or moisture in it from car washes and rainy or snowy days. I just changed the reverse light bulb yesterday, and when the light was reinstalled I noticed the brake and parking lights were out. But If you tap the edge of the light it flickers. Comes on and off intermittently. Very much a safety hazard! I’m finding with research 2015-16 models were recalled for exactly same issues, by GM. Nothing for later models. I’m finding average cost of $800 per tail light to fix/replace. GM needs to acknowledge and fix this issue.

This is a chronic problem for this GMC model. The circuit board supporting & connecting the LED tail lights has 2 identified weak areas that fail. GM engineers should have addressed this problem long ago. Existing recall allowances are not fair and should be extended. LED tail lights should last for the life of the vehicle - they are low voltage and no moving parts! Additionally, the recommended replacement of the entire unit is expensive - approximately $500 per side.
The Right Hand Tail Light Assembly has failed and is back ordered nation wide! When I saw a class action law suit it made me very upset when I have a family of GMC products in my driveway. I will have to think twice before I purchase another.
This LED taillights are suppose to be lifetime. GMC recalled the 15-16 models of the same car... Mine is a 17 and these these taillight are also defective and not working and probably the same problem as the prior years? And its not just one taillight, both of them stopped working.

The tail lights are a completely sealed unit as they are intended to last the life of the vehicle and are up to $800 to replace. Very poor design and should be covered by GM.
Update from Jul 8, 2021: GM dealer is taking care of issue.
Update from Jul 14, 2021: GM is not standing behind these faulty tail lights - it cost me $850 to replace this unit! I am beyond passed off. I have been a GM owner my whole life but that just might have changed!
