I was stopped at a red light in the left hand turning lane and when the light turned green I proceeded to accelerate and the engine would rev but the car would not move forward so I continued to push on the gas when the car jolted forward Violently. I am lucky no one was in front of me because this would have cause a car accident. Turns out the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced which is a common issue for GM however they never owned up to it and refused to pay to for the cost of the replacement and I paid several thousands out of pocket. This is a major safety concern and could be potentially life threatening. GM should recognize this as a recall and take ownership of a failed transmission with less than 100,000 miles.

Tail lights went out. Lifters have been replaced TWICE! While stopped at red light, at take off the vehicles lunges forward. At low speed the vehicle will down shift on it-??s own. 80k miles Recently while headed to work, the torque converter went out. 126k This is suppose to be a luxury vehicle and cost entirely to much to be a POS. I honestly thought I had a lemon but it seems to be a reoccurring issue in the entire fleet.

Tranny failed at 92k miles even though properly maintained. Since new tranny installed by dealer (out of pocket cost) had to return due to tranny slipping into neutral when driving highway speeds and taking foot off gas. Dealer performed TCM and ECM flash updates. Cost out of pocket for programming. Issue came back less than 2000 miles later

Transmission /torque converter I was driving on highway and all of a sudden what seemed like the engine lost power and I could not accelerate. After heading to slow lane and few seconds later everything went back to normal. A week later same thing happened but this time it wouldn-??t shift to second gear. I was stranded on side of road. Before calling help, I let it idle for a few minutes and tried again to put in drive, it worked again. I made it home. Next day it just started making a loud noise under truck. Was able to get a mechanic and he said it-??s the transmission. Has 103k miles and is out of warranty

First problem started back in May.. it-??s went downhill ever since. Hard shifting was happening. GM dealer said I needed a new transmission. Found out from local repair shop that I needed a torque converter ($600) multiple transmission fluid changes (apparently many issues for A Lot of people) changed that. Then had to change Valve Body & TCM. ($540) everything started working but not 100% did a full tune up having multiple misfires constantly then shuttering when idle. Also replaced ECM ($200+)After changing all spark plugs, wires, oil, etc. the AC was having issues had been having issues for months. Kept adding Freon had to replace AC Condenser (works great now, was told by repair shop that-??s also very common in these year models. Condensers are all weak in the same spot) just recently October 2022, my instrument cluster started going haywire. Gauges going off and on screens going blank. Had Alternator and battery tested both test fine. No loss of power but when hitting the start/stop vehicle would continue to run and lock and unlock when it wanted. Husband took the alternator out to have it tested again. They tested 3x 1st. Good, 2nd Error, 3rd Bad ( it was overcharging at 16.5V) replaced Alternator ($290) gauges still going haywire, like before it is only sometimes, when they do it-??s bad bad.. but I can also drive to town and back 20-30 miles and not the first issue. Just left GM with a new Battery Distribution Fuse Block ($153) because of course it can-??t just be a regular ($8-10) mega fuse, hopefully this will fix my issue. We pay too much money for this vehicle to have all of these issues & none be under warranty. I-??ve been having the TAILLIGHT ISSUES as well ever since I purchased the car in 2018. When I received the recall on the taillight it was 6 years up to 72,000 & of course my vehicle had 79k miles on it at that time so that-??s wasn-??t covered.

My vehicle began shuddering during acceleration and would violently jerk forward after gas pedal was engaged with decreased power in forward acceleration and increase in rpm. This last a couple of weeks. Now, my vehicle is completely broke down and at a GM certified service center. The Service manager states torque converter completely went out and the transmission is burnt up. The mileage is at $61,000, so GM warranty won-??t cover it and the company that holds the extended warranty I purchased hasn-??t been able to be successfully contacted. There is a -??service-?? bulletin but no recalls and a class action lawsuit (that I-??m not a part of) but no recall. My vehicle completely lost power going 50mph on a busy road without warning. This needs to be a recall due to this dangerous circumstance.

My car is not shifting right. I took it into GMC, and they said they corrected it. I have taken in two times for this issue already. Today I almost was in a car accident because the car would not shift properly and it shoved me forward like A car hit me from the back. The car is not shifting properly at all. And now it-??s making a muffling sound and it-??s like stuck in a gear. I pulled over and I parked and then I reversed and then I went to hit the gas again to try to go slowly and it jolted forward again. This is serious and needs repaie

  • 31,000 miles
When traveling at low speeds (10-20 mph), I have continuously experienced "lunging" and "jerkiness" with my transmission for over 2 years now. Despite approximately a dozen separate evaluations and/or repairs by GM-certified technicians, the problem continues to exist. I am told that the issue is normal and that I must live with the issue as being normal. Not only am I concerned about the ongoing maintenance cost, but the safety of myself and passengers should the vehicle strike an object or person accidentally. According to various online sources, there are hundreds of GM owners who are experiencing similar issues, and even a class action law suit has been filed. However, there has been no acknowledgement or meaningful resolution to the problems.

Dec 172019

Yukon

  • 56,000 miles
Beginning around 56,000 miles the transmission started lurching and stuttering at slow speeds. It is worse when cold but never quite goes away. Dealership kept it for 3 days and felt it but said all was within normal range. Beginning around 65,000 it started stuttering when trying to accelerate while in motion, such as on the highway when trying to pass. This is not only annoying but dangerous when you can't get the power you need when needed because the transmission can't decide when to shift.

From time to time the vehicle lunges forward when im stopped at a stop sign, crosswalk or a stop sign. I have had it into the dealerships numerous times but GM only wants to put bandaids on the issue, GM has a major issue with their eight speed transmission, they only have internal bulletins to their dealerships. The dealership tells you to bring the vehicle in and they will drive it with the customer, but the issue is intermittent and doesnt always lunges, GM is trying to outlast the customers hoping they will get tired of dealing with the issue and they will go away. GM cannot afford a recall because of the size of the problem, several deaths will occur until this issue is resolved. The issue happens on the roadways
