Yukon ES 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 133,333 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I have a 2008 GMC Yukon, I have it for about two years it has 133,333 miles on it, I have had it service regularly as I was supposed to. On January 28, on my way home from work my check engine light came on and I heard ticking, I took it to Williams Auto in Lubbock,Tx. They performed a diagnostics test and was told that it was the #4 Lifter, I asked if there were any signs of wear and tear and the stated No. I was told to too either fix it or get rid of the truck. I was also told that the make and model of my truck was the only year this happens too. I've done some research just to make sure and sure enough it's true its the only year. Again the #4 lifter, the cost to get it fixed is $6000. This was my sole means of transportation for my family. I have a wife, four kids and a grandchild, I can't afford to fix or buy another vehicle, as I was still making payments on my vehicle. Was there any Recalls for this happening to these models? Will GMC manufacturer fixed the issues? Please Advised

Yukon 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 188,000 miles

Brought my Yukon XL, 2008, in April of 2010, w 71,000 mi from a GMC dealer. Truck belonged to a Office type company, chk car fax, ALL scheduled maintenance had been preformed. I took trk for ALL scheduled required maintenance, did regular & scheduled oil changes. 5 1/2 yrs (June 2015) trk paid for. Dec, 2015, oil pressure dropped causing vehicle to be towed to home. Hudgins GMC in Newport News, VA, gave 1 solution, replace the motor (stating my cam bearings needed to be replaced. Took trk to American Pride of Yorktown, VA, who advised the #4 lifter had failed, and suggested with the current millage 188,000, the suggested all lifters be replaced, or replace the motor. Asking if the cam shaft bearings were BAD, they said NO. My trk was my soul means of transportation & PLEASURE for travel in 5 1/2 yrs. I took care of my trk. and LOOKED FORWARD to MANY MANY more yrs. of service. I checked with my main service center Dick Shirley Chev. Madza, in Burlington, NC, about future things that may need repairing or REPLACING BEFORE they wore out. They say BUY AMERICAN, and you get the SHAFT. I THOUGHT GMC was competitive with the BIG FOREIGN TRUCKS,..STUPID ME. Asking the mechanic if there were ANY SIGNS of ABUSE to my motor (once inside), he stated NO. I am PISSED, and VERY DISAPOINTED with MY AMERICAN GMC. 2 TRUCKS prior to this was a Isuzu Trooper (1991), brought NEW, NO PROBLEMS of this sort. had 173,000 mil on it when traded. What a DISAPOINTMENT. My Next TRK WILL BE FOREIGN. I am keeping my Yukon BECAUSE it is such a GREAT vehicle,..But I WILL NEVER BUY AMERICAN AGAIN, and advising ALL MY CHILDERN & friends in the F.O.P (fraternal order of police) NATION WIDE of this experience. I am HOPEING They will see my grief, and BUY FOREIGN ALSO. I am ASKING GMC to replace my cost,..IF (small word that means SO MUCH) they refuse, I will GO TO AS MANY PLACES AS POSSIBLE TO EMBARRASS GMC, about this situation.
