Vibration was there for about two months, just avoided the speed range where it was real bad. Have identified the problem in the back end of the 2008 GMC Yukon XL: When the vibration starts up and seems to be in the back quarter panel area AND you have ruled out tires: It is most likely the U-Joints. Diagnosis includes severe vibration in the 60-70 range and a complete drop off in coasting mode. I went through three dealers who could not figure out what it was until the rear one failed on Tuesday. Please pass the word.
Update from Aug 25, 2016: Note cost for repair was for the u-joints, new driveshaft and new yoke assembly required to fix after the failure. I was very lucky the gas tank did not get "whacked" by a flailing driveshaft!
