I've taken my 2007 Yukon to several shops around town including the dealership. They all have said that the lifters have gone out. This was a shock to me considering that this truck still has a lot of life left before any major work such as this needs to be replacing. So the shop said that they will look into this to confirm. I received a call from them today (10/31/13) and they said not only the lifters were bad but it needs a new CAM shaft. They suggested that with the amount of work, I should strongly consider purchasing a new motor.

A NEW MOTOR!!!? Are you serious!!!!!! I could not believe what I was hearing. I cannot afford a new motor to purchase. I looked online to see if there has been problems reported with GMC motors and noticed that there are A LOT OF ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS with GMC products. I cannot believe there isn't a RECALL on these vehicles.

GMC has really let me down in not standing behind their name. I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in GMC and I will not purchase another GMC product in life if they do not do a RECALL for this problem. I'm sure the media will have a field day with this and will call them to the carpet on these issues. GMC, I strongly request a RECALL these vehicles to correct the problems that you have created to keep your customers happy and returning for business.

Yukon XL SLT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 151,000 miles

I have a 2007 Yukon XL SLT 5.3 Flex Fuel and have every problem out on the complaint list. Fuel pump twice, oil add every 1000 miles etc. Now I have the cylinder problem where they are not firing at the proper percentages. Question is, is this a known GMC issue with this motor. It sure seems like a lot of people having the same problems. I think the design is flawed and all of the GMC Dealer Service departments are just fixing and forgetting the problems. They have no interest in taking a holistic view seeing the systemic problem and acting on the behalf of a customer with GMC. I am contacting a lawyer specializing in consumer product defects. I paid 54K for this thing and if its defective I want it fixed at the manufacturer's expense.
