I very rarely use my rear glass hatch of my 2004 Yukon, but recently when having to load up my Yukon to evacuate hurricane gustav. When I went to close it, I heard a load pop and noticed that the left rear glass hinge had broken up. When I returned home, I called the GMC dealership where I purchased the vehicle and was told that it is not covered by my extended warranty. They have the replacement in stock, but since they do not deem it a safety issue, the part has not been recalled. I find this shocking since they know that it happens enough to where they keep this item in stock at the dealership and charge you $900 to replace it.
I have a 2004 Yukon that has the rear hatch back. The glass has become detached from the body of the vehicle. It is very expensive to replace. I talking to body shops and the dealership, I have learned that this problem is not that uncommon. One local owner of a auto body shop said they this is a defect in the way these windows are attached to the vehicle.
