The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the brakes failed to engage when the brake pedal was depressed. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the brake fluid was leaking. The dealer diagnosed that the brake lines were corroded and fractured due to defective metal. As a result, the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 01/15/15 the brake lines rotted out and caused fluid to leak, which in turn caused the brakes to fail. Updated 03/03/15

I started vehicle, depressed the brake pedal, I then placed the shifter into reverse and proceeded to drive when I realized the vehicle wasn't stopping as usual. I then put the shifter into drive and parked it. I got out of the vehicle and noticed alot of fluid (on the drivers side) all over the ground. I called a tow truck to have it moved to a mechanics location for further inspection. The main (corroded) brake line burst causing fluid to leak everywhere and creating a potentially serious life threatening driving hazard ( brake failure) had I not parked the vehicle it would have been a different ending....this needs to investigated immediately.

Unlike many others my Chevrolet mechanic warned me of the corrosion problems they found on my brake lines on my GMC 2002 Yukon, and the need to replace them. This $1,700 repair is excessive, but I could not consider risking failure. We travel on highways close to 1,000 miles per month and occasionally tow a 5,000 pound boat/trailer. I typically buy new cars, maintain them with the dealer and run them as long as I can. I have never seen or heard of such a comprehensive failure. Having only briefly researched this on line and easily finding hundreds of reported failures, I cannot believe that GMC has not been held accountable. A friend has reported to us that both their Sierra and Yukon experienced on road failures. I maintain my cars as responsibly as I can, at a cost, but not wanting any highway failures. I hate to think about the aging GMC/Chevy truck population that is now driving next to me. Why has GMC not been held accountable.

I have a 2002 GMC Yukon 4WD and have had recurring problems with my ABS activating at slow speeds. The vehicle has been repaired by the local GMC dealer 3-5 times but keeps recurring 10-15K miles later. The problem occurs at slow speeds, such as coming to a stop or in heavy commuter traffic. The ABS activates and the Yukon is difficult to stop. The dealer claims they are unaware of any problems along this line, but I have paid several times to get it repaired and nobody seems to know why it keeps failing. The failure to stop has resulted in two small collisions but no damage was done to my vehicle or the others. The problem is occurring again, but the $500/pair of sensors is proving to be a burden to keep fixing. I believe the speed sensor was adjusted the other times the ABS was faulty, but the details are difficult to determine. Any and all help is appreciated! I realize my vehicle is 8 years old with 80K miles on it, but this problem has been repaired under warranty several times and the problem remains, expensively, after the warranty has expired.

Driving from tampa to orlando in my 2002 GMC Yukon with trailer in tow. Brakes went to floor while had to use emergency brake. I was tow home by aaa no fluid in reservoir filled it up. Saw fluid leaking under drivers door look with flashlight and saw cluster of lines corroded leaking from a round device and running down the rail toward back. About two ft. Long. I think they are the metal brake lines and their failure seems like a defect in material as I think they should be made of a harder or more lasting stainless steel or something as brakes are the most important device on a vehicle. I now feel for the safety of my family GMC said improper maintenance. I think GMC should take care of their faulty defective brake lines before someone is killed or maybe they have already.

ABS activates during slow stops, increases stopping distance. Dealer performed recall 05V37900 and problem persists. Dealer replaced both front speed sensors and problem persists. I believe problem is corrosion in front wheel hubs on tone ring. Recall does not address that part.

My 2002 GMC Yukon has the problem that when stopping at slow speeds the ABS brakes activate causing the car to lurch forward before coming to a complete stop. This is the third time I have experienced this with this vehicle. The first time was just before the recall for this problem in 2005, the second time was in the summer of 2007 when it was fixed under the recall, and just recently when I had to again pay for the repair. Each time it was repaired by removing and cleaning or replacing the sensors. Obviously the repair done as a result of the recall is temporary at best and the safety issue of the car lurching forward returns. In my case it appears to return in about 2 years.

One month later, he noticed increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications. In addition, the ABS activates unexpectedly. The vehicle has not been repaired properly. The failure mileage was 32,582 and current mileage was 44,000.

2002 Yukon had very reduced braking under normal speeds and road conditions. The brake pedal was pushed nearly to the floor with only about 30% of normal brake capacity. As if the front brakes were not helping. The big issue is that the recall service by GM recall # 05068 has been performed on this truck less than 6 months ago on 8-23-2006. The recall procedure does not correct the defect. Someone is going to get killed by this problem that GM is not correctly addressing.

Sop compressor had internal piston failure in compressor.. the sunroof would not close all the way. The dealer had to install a new sunroof frame.
