The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated that the failure was caused by corroded wires underneath the dashboard. The contact had the wires replaced after the first occurrence, but the failure recurred with the heat voluntarily coming on. The dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The VIN was not available.
