This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Windshield wipers failed to operate in driving rain resulting in extremely low visability. Vehicle was pulled off the road, ignition was shut off and started again in an attempt to get wipers to work. Wipers still failed to operate. Car could not be safely operated until rain had ceased. This is a known failure on many GM vehicles. We had a similar incident in an S-10 truck approximately 2 years ago, so we were familiar with problem.
Windsheild wipers works intermittentlyon a family trip had to get out and tap the windshield motor box on the firewell, and then they work. I learned of a recall, but it didn't extend to the year 1999 I think it should, and if you think it should please send me a recall. Thank you.
