The contact stated the ABS engage dat low speeds, and was making a grinding noise. This vehicle was not included in NHTSA recall 05V379000. The manufacturer has been contacted, and there was no free remedy offered.

The contact complained about a fuel system problem. When putting gas in the vehicle and filling it up the gas spilled out underneath the gas tank. The contact has taken the vehicle to an independent party for service. The contact did not know exactly what the cause of the problem was at this point. Also, ABS system failed. When slowing down or going to stop the ABS is engaged at any speed. The contact called GM, and they said they knew about the problems. The contact took vehicle to the dealer, and had the wheel sensor replaced. That has fixed the problem with the brakes. General Motors was contacted over the problems, they said that vehicle was not included at this time. GM did told the contact that they would give him a coupon for a new 2006 vehicle.

The contact owns a 1999 Yukon. He read the article in the paper about the ABS. The ABS is kicked in at low speeds. This happened at about stopping speeds from 10 mph to below. Had to really push down hard on the brake to make them stop. He first noticed this about 8-24-05. He called customer service, and they told him this vehicle was not number was not included in recall 05V379000 due to VIN. On 9-1-0 took the car to a dealership and they cleaned the contact services and charged him $316.

The consumer has contacted the manufacturer regarding this issue. The consumer states while applying the brakes, 9 out of 10 times it felt as though it kept stopping, but did not completely stop. A local mechanic stated it was a problem with the ABS system. The mechanic inspected the vehicle thoroughly then replaced the rear brake pads. The ABS light did not illuminate, indicating a problem with the braking system.
