Just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck. Last one ran just over 25,000 miles. This pump fails without warning and under the right circumstances it can lead to a serious accident. GM issued an extended warrenty for these pumps. Ive experienced failure with their latest pump and it was replaced under warranty.. the engine will fail without any warning whatsoever and any speed, including highway speeds in heavy traffic. If this doesnT warrant a safety investigation I donT know what does.just had diesel fuel injection pump number 4 installed on my truck. Last one ran just over 25,000 miles. Engine exhibited symptoms of starting hard when hot or stalling with no warning. The ses light would come on and the codes 17, 18, 35 & 36 were stored. Dealer was contacted regarding this and truck was at dealer for 3 appointments but did not resolve problem. These codes almost always indicate a failing fuel injection pump and calls to customer relations line asking why nothing was being done to change the fuel injection pump didn't get anywhere. A case number was assigned. All visits to the dealer were during the warranty period. A trip following the last visit to the dealership nearly resulted in a rear end collision on and interstate as the truck stalled in heavy traffic. I purchased a new GM fuel injection pump and installed it myself and resolved the problem completely. GM has since reinstated the warranty for this problem on several trucks including mine. I am submitting a request for a refund for my losses.
