rattle from moon roof rattle from moon roof rattle from moon roof

When I purchased my Terrain on March 15, 2019, little did I know that my car would be back at the dealership within days of buying it. As I drove away from the dealers lot I heard a distinct rattle coming from above my head. It sounded like a bee buzzing (rattle type noise) and it was very annoying. I of course looked all over the vehicle to see if there was something that was causing this rattle noise and was unable to locate it myself.

When I took it into the dealership (Seaview Buick GMC in Lynnwood, WA.) they test drove the car and were able to detect the rattle and found that it was coming from a broken plastic clip(s) holding the moon roof in place. Parts had to be ordered from the factory and the finally arrived a couple weeks later (this happened during the GM strike). After the repairs were completed I was driving away from the lot and heard what sounded like a loose bolt rolling around behind the upper console (where you store your sunglasses) and turned around and took it back. After another week or so I was advised that there were more broken clips and they had to replace the entire moon roof.

Hoping that all of the issues were fixed I retrieved my car and just a couple of weeks later I was driving with my roof open and the wind visor sheared off and almost took my head off. I was lucky that there were no other cars behind me when this part went flying off because it could have caused serious damage.

Again the car went back to the dealership and honestly they were less than thrilled to see me again. When I explained what happened they did not seem phased by the fact that I could have been killed, caused an accident or hurt someone else or their property.

The wind shield was ordered and installed within 2 weeks (again still during strike so getting parts quickly was not an option) I was back to get my car.

Obviously I was hesitant to open my moon roof again and waited a week or so because I was scared that something would happen again… and it did!!! I was driving on the freeway going about 60 MPH and I started hearing a sound (wop sound like when you have a window open and it causes pressure in the car) and caught a glimpse of something in my rearview mirror and then something smacked me in the face and knocked my sunglasses off of my face causing me to swerve and almost hit a car. I pulled over as quickly as I could to find the entire rubber gasket from the moon roof hanging from the roof of the car into my back seat. (pictures attached)

Back to the dealership again with another story about how this car has almost killed me again and my complaint was met with again a lack of concern and compassion. At this point I am not even sure if I want to keep this car and I inquired about the Washington State Lemon Law with the dealership who of course advised that the repairs that have happened are not a "serious safety concern" and my claim would likely go no where. I did ask to speak to the General Manager of the Dealership and was advised that there was not one. The old GM has left and there was someone covering from California but they could/would not be available and the dealership encouraged me to wait for their new GM to start and then speak with them. While in tears, I was able to speak with the service manager who did offer to compensate me for not having my vehicle for more than a month and GM did pay one car payment for the inconvenience of not having my vehicle for more than a month.

I waited until September 17, 2019 to hear from the GM and when we had a conversation by phone he stated that he was in the process of moving his family from the east coast and also need some time to review my service history and then he would call me back. I am still waiting for him to call me back... almost 2 years later.
