Driving down the road, went to apply brakes at a light, pedal was really stiff and unresponsive. I had to swerve to the right and was able to come to a stop right before entering the intersection, I had passed 5 cars on my left and the vehicles in the right turn lane were able to get out of my way before I came to a stop in the hatch marks of the intersection. I slowly limped my Terrain about another mile to where I could safely pull over in a gas station parking lot. Right as I cleared the intersection where I had problems the car told me to service the brake assist, then about a half mile later the vehicle informed me that it was going into limp mode. Upon safely parking at the gas station I opened my hood and noticed quite a bit of oil coming from where the brake assist is located on the side of the engine. I had lost about a quart and a half before I was able to pull over. I told that back off then waited for my fiancé to come pick me up. We started the vehicle long enough to move it to a different parking spot and went back the next day with a dolly. Started the vehicle long enough to drive it into the dolly. Engine sounded ok at this time.
We have since removed the faulty, broken, exploded brake assist. Which is in multiple pieces, some of which we still haven't recovered and my be inside the engine. Unsure of what to do at this time. Since this seems to be a common problem with this model gm should issue a recall. I still owe over 28,000.00 on this car. I really hope I don't have a very expensive yard ornament.
