The exhaust manifold in my 2014 GMC Terrain is now being replaced a 2nd time within 3 years. These parts are not manufactured well and tend to crack very easily. I noticed a strong exhaust odor coming through my vents the past couple months. Only occurred at start and idle. Once you drive a bit, the odor would go away. Makes sense since the exhaust leaks through the crack initially and as it heats back up, the crack shrinks again.

I feel this should be a RECALL issue for the 2014 Terrains but nothing that I could find to support that. Ridiculous since this is such a COMMON problem with these.

Thankfully the parts and repair cost are not too significant - around $350.00 but it all depends on where you have the repair done. I worked with a smaller/local repair shop which helped with the cost. Dealerships will overcharge for labor ~ $130/hour at most of them just FYI...
