Christmas morning after the 3 day artic blast with single to low teens, we left to go to my son's with granddaughters gifts. We had gone about a mile when noticed smoke coming out behind car. Turned around and went back home. Stopped engine and raised hood. Smoke was coming up so I looked under car and saw oil running out between motor and transmission. Had towed to dealer[ Jim Hardman GMC] who had done all service work since car had 2 miles. They said motor bad and gave a repair of $9850.00.
Kelly Blue Book list value of car at $7545.00. GM bulletin #14882 states that a frozen PVC valve can blow out rear main seal. GM said the the vin # does include our car, as it goes 2010-2013 terrain but 2010-2014 equinox. Gm offers reward points for us buying 3 new GM vehicles but is only good toward another GM. About $2500.00.
Lawsuits are pending up north but the south has none. You know the court system and big money, will take a long time. Need a new vehicle now can't wait on courts. I have printed the weather temps for the 3 days that probably caused the issue but GM or Dealer wont listen. I don't think I will be looking at GM's anymore. I don't think dealer techs know butt from hole in ground.
