GMC should be ashamed of themselves. I have a 2013 GMC Terrain SLE... It started leaking oil. Engine reduce light. Stability light.. All these problems are well-known known problems other people have experienced or are experiencing. They knew these Engines were faulty. Now my Engine is blown. GMC has a lawsuit on these same issue's and something needs to be done
Will never buy another GM vehicle again. My 2013 Terrain burned oil and it never alerted me of low oil pressure, low oil, nothing. Timing chain and all parts wore out because of no or low oil in the engine, causing chain to junp teeth and blow engine (rods bent, no compression etc). GMC dealer took 3 weeks to rebuild engine at close to $5,000. ALL of this came out of my pocket. Piston rings were not even replaced, which cause the whole problem in the first place. Problem wasn't even fixed after all that money spent. A waste of time and money.
Since April 2019 we have complained to Fox auto group.Back then the engine used around a quart per oil change ,but as of today,the last oil change we supplied 6.5 quarts during the 4000 miles...GMC should fix there mistakes,This problem exist on mostly ALL GMC Terrains that year and before. They knew there was a problem and they changes piston rings on the Late 2013 and beyond models.
Received the letter from GMC about the oil consumption, well got it just in two weeks before my issue started. So with the car not driven much the dealer said usually this happens on high mileage vehicles. NOT true. So when I went back to dealership, he said May 16th was the deadline on this claim.....so wrong #1 this car is like brand new, I am original owner and purchase for my mom who is 79 and drives probably 150 miles a month....i purchased this new for her.....oil is running 2 quarts each few months and the car is rarle used. I am so furious this was a purchase for my mom, so I would not have to worry about her breaking down on the road somewhere with all the crap in this world this just upsets me to no end. I HATE GMC and will never buy another one...also my brother is a big GMC fan, BUT NOT ANYMORE>>>>>>>>>>>>> I don't get why GMC can't do repairs needed screw the deadline..the car only has 50000 miles on it. Mom babies this car....totally wrong and hope MR GMC breaks down on the side of the road somewhere...
Update from Jul 20, 2020: so i am doing this oil consumption test. WHAT A JOKE. i was told it should use 1 quart of oil each 1,000 miles.....REALLY. Not ever buing GMC EVER.

Had regular oil changes and had all invoices as proof. One month after last oil change, engine ceased. Mechanic said there was no oil . He told me about the excessive oil consumption problem with my type of vehicle. Called GMC, spoke to four people who said company takes no responsibility even though TSBs were issued, which was not a recall. I paid out-of-pocket $6,800 for new engine.
2013 terrain, 96K ,miles. I have had it 18 months and have put over 4000 in it due to oil consumption problems, which of course warranty does not cover. Never buy the 2.4 l engine.
