My Terrain recently started to kick hardly while stopping at light and signs. It would kick while in reverse as well. Sucks for a car that didn't even hit 100K miles yet to already have tranny problems. Well done GM. 👍

Terrain SET 6 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,000 miles

My 2012 GMC Terrain SLT, 6 Cylinder vehicle is a gorgeous car. However, a friend took it for a ride and said that it appears that the engine is not responding properly when giving it gas. He added that it appears to to pick up speed to slowly when he gave it gas. After hearing this I monitored my driving and how my vehicle responded and noticed a clunk when stopping. Then I heard a clunking when picking up speed after slowing down then giving it gas. I took it to the dealer and was advised that this is common since these a electronically control transmissions and the transmission needs to find where it should be after slowing down or stopping. This he said, has got to be done swiftly and it goes through many gears to find where it should be. Therefore it shifts, and makes this noise which is common. He added that the newer Terrains are going to be worse since they will have more gears to go through to get to the correct gear.

I find this strange since it did not happen until now. I did have a 2011 GMC that needed a new transmission after they could not adjust it to run correctly and traded it in for this 2012. I am a responding to the dealers satisfaction request survey and will advise him about my dissatisfaction with this vehicle and possibly write to GMC in Detroit. I will keep you posted of the results.
