Long story short: 2012 GMC Terrain: lost acceleration merging on to highway. Heard metal clanking like coins in a tin can. Took it in: "Your timing chain is shot. You have metal fragments all up in your engine. To be completely honest, it's too much for me to take on. Take it to the dealer. At 67000 miles, it should be covered under the powertrain warranty." Took it to the dealer. HA. Total joke. "Your engine needs to be replaced. Your powertrain warranty expired 5 months ago. You're lookin' at ABOUT $6000 for a NEW engine plus labor."
