My GMC Terrain 2011 is having trouble accelerating, and I hear a noise from the engine. When I am at a stop light and I try to accelerate, it pulls and doesn't go forward. It's stalking my Terrain. I did some research, and I found that this vehicle has a recall #12313D- special coverage adjustment- engine balance chain and fuel pump. I looked up, and it seems this vehicle has 0 unclaimed recalls. So, I'm concern because this vehicle is stalling and not working as it should be. The recall does say, 'if left untreated, could cause the chain to break, leading to engine damaged.

Transmission failure with no warning, torque converter replacement $3,500 around 120K miles. Check engine light unable to be diagnosed or repaired succesfully since 100K miles. Code P0420 with no catalytic converter issues. Every O2 sensor replaced, code will not clear. Stalls without any warning, low RPM, rough idles, engine just shuts down. No dash indicator lights illuminate when failure occurs. Restarts. Oil must be changed early as it seems to consume too much. Undiagnosable. Have been told by every mechanic it could be computer related, timing chain related, regardless this 4cyl GMC has too many complaints for yheae issues not to have a recall. It is incredibly dangerous when random engine failure occurs and I have had more close calls fearing for my life in this vehicle than I can recall at this point. I have spent almost the value of this vehicle in major repairs in the year I have owned it.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Terrain. While driving, the transmission was shifting into a lower gear and the vehicle could not exceed 2 mph. The vehicle was pulled over and towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine seized. The contact researched and learned that the failure was due to the engines of the 2011 GM models. Denooyer Chevrolet (127 wolf rd, albany, NY 12205, (518) 458-7700) stated that there was no recall for the failure and admitted that there was no way the contact could have known the engine would seize. The manufacturer agreed with the dealer and informed the contact that they had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer and pay for labor costs. The manufacturer stated that they may consider paying 10% of the total repair cost. The vehicle was currently at the independent mechanic and had not been repaired. The manufacturer called back and stated that they might help pay off the vehicle loan as long as the contact purchased another GM vehicle. The failure mileage was 81,000.

Excessive oil consumption. Have to put 1 to 2 quarts every 300-500 miles. Even after just having an oil change and tune up. Car also gets jerky when driving and it is switching between gears - I have an automatic. Can happen when at a stop and then going or happen in the middle of driving while accelerating.

I had pressed on the brake to yield before entering a round a bout and without warning my Terrain shut off. I was able to put it in park and restart it. However not even a mile down the road turning into a parking lot it shut off again with out warning. I was able to coast out of the way thankfully and put the car in park and then restart it. Then again this afternoon turning in my driveway it shut off again with out warning. Other than today the car has shut off with out warning 3 other times. I can't make it 3000 miles before I need another oil change as well. I have the timing belt break on me, the actuators have been replaced multiple times. I've lost count on how many times my car has been in shop over the last year. I'm very afraid that the engine is going to shut off again without warning and cause and accident with my kids in the car.

I was driving and my vehicle totally shut down.I had stopped to make a right hand turn. As soon as my turn was complete; it shut down.and would not restart I had to have it towed home.previosly to this it would stall, and I would have to put it in nuetral to restart it. Then next day I had it towed to be seviced thinking it was the fuel pump. Got the call from mechanic telling me the problem is the timing chain broke and has caused serious engine damage...... piston and valves torn all up..... obviously a huge problem with this vehicle model. I have read so many complaints about this issue in regards to this model. My Terrain only has a little over 100,000 miles on it. I have to pay $5,000. To have a rebuilt motor put in it...... shame on GMC for putting so many of us customers in danger of being seriously injured. And causing us to pay for this problem; that this vehicle obviously has. I'm sure the mechanic shops love seeing us towing our junk Terrains come rolling in. They are making some serious money on rebuilding motors that should never be having these problems.... come on with recalls please... I can't afford this extra expense.

"excessive oil consumption" after having the oil consumption tests performed on my truck it was discovered that my vehicle needed the rings and pistons replaced, therefore, on January 18th, 2016 my truck went into rogers Chevrolet (now known as michael bates) to have this done, under the special warranty known as excessive oil consumption. I received my truck back on January 25th, 2016 after being told it was fixed. Once my free oil changes were up in March of 2016, I either took my truck for oil changes or my uncle, grandfather or myself conducted the oil changes (you will see the receipts on this). After some time I started to use oil again, more than normal. When I inquired with rogers Chevrolet I was told that my truck should be fine because they already replaced the pistons and rings and that my engine is just going to burn oil because the way GM built the motor and to keep extra oil on hand. Well on 01/30/2019 I was on the highway doing around 75mph when my engine failed. I almost was in an accident on the 3 lane highway! I was advised to have it towed to a nearby dealer in which I did. I was informed that the pistons blew through the bottom of the motor, and then I was advised to provide receipts in which I did, and now I am being told the special warranty is expired in which it is not I am only at 109,000 miles and it was last serviced for this special warranty in 2016, therefore, it should be covered until the 120,000 miles like indicated on the warranty bulletin. This issue is very dangerous and fatalities are going to happen if this doesn't get addressed and fixed properly. The maintenance on my truck is excellent, I took very good care of it, and I have the receipts to prove it, however, I did some research after this happened to me and I was informed that there must be a problem with the block/heads in the motor for it to do this and GM has to know this!

'excessive oil consumption' GMC will not honor their recall. I received a letter in August of 2015 saying to bring my vehicle in if my car was effected as long as it was in the 7 years 6 months and less than 120K miles.in August 2016 I started to smell oil burning in my car and black oil leaking out of the engine. After my research this was the beginning stages of this recall. I called, GMC james rivard and mentioned this recall asking them to fix it. There was only at 98K miles and it had been less than 7 years. They later said they had to replace a cap that wore out, but charged me 129. I realized they had took advantage of me by charging me simply for cleaning up the oil and putting more in. Nothing on the reciept mentions a replacement cap. Through the years my husband and I started to noticed more issues, stabiltrak warnings, low acceleration, oil changes not lasting more then 2.5 to 3 months. We called in August 2018 and was told I could bring it in, but would have to pay the 125 if they decided it was not the recall. This was the issue previously! since we've paid off the car in September 2018, we have experienced the car stopping in while in drive when pressing the break, 'low engine power' warnings, along with the stabiltrak warnings, and frequently wants to stop when making hard left or right turns on streets. We took to a local mechanic last week and was informed the cars oil was completely (gone for the 3rd time, the oil life in my car was at 27%). with several others, they informed this could be due to piston rings being worn out. I immediately recalled the incident in 2016 and called the GMC recall center. They refused to make the dealer honor this recall, since it expired in September 2018... coincidentally when I paid off my car. I wish they would have taken care of this issue when I asked! I have totally lost trust in the GMC brand.

ABS light is on even after fixing the supposed problem. System stabilitrak constantly on. Excessive use of oil. 2 to 3 quartz every 2 weeks. Reduced engine power comes up on dash and no matter how fast I am going (15 mph or 80 mph on a highway) it doesnt matter my car will slow down or just shut off. Also happens when I have to hit braked hard, slow down or accelerate from a stopped position. I am also using a lot of gas.

The car was taken into steven lust automotive and we were told that a transfer seal needed to be replaced and that GMC was aware of the issue but would only warranty the issue if the car was produced in a certain factory. Same year same model all having same issue but produced in a different plant. Now the stabililtrac warning comes on and from research on the web this is a common issue that they are aware of also but refuse to fix. This car only has 66000 miles on it. We also contacted GMC and they told us that they are aware of the problem but will not warranty it unless is was produced at a certain factory. When the stabilitrac warning was noted I was driving down the highway and the engine just shut down. I do believe this issue is due to the excessive oil leak coming from the seal. This is the second time that I have placed this complaint. When I called to confirm that I placed the complaint no one could find it.
