From almost brand new I tried using the economy mode on this vehicle. As I understand it the ECO mode causes that transmission to shift at 200 rpm lower than usual. So if you're not towing anything, driving normal and don't have too many people in the car, you can save gas by clicking on the ECO button on the center console.
Twice the transmission banged very loud. It seemed to try to be shifting into two gears resulting in a conflict. I stopped using the ECO mode for fear of total transmission damage. Took it for a test drive with the attendant but there were no loud noises. I don't use it.
