Low Power Error indicated on display. accelerator peddle pushed to the floor and vehicle might get up to 10 mph. Too bad we can't go back to the old fashion throttle cables that physically controlled the corroborator and rely less on computer/sensors that go bad way too fast. Is this GM way to make money on follow up repairs?
Sigh, here we go... I bought my Terrain back in October, 2012. It's a 2010 SLE 2 and had 19k miles on it at the time. As of now, she's in the shop and about to cost me a butt load of money. Here's what happened. She's been a thirsty b*tch and sucking up oil quite a bit here in the last few months. So much that 3000 miles after the full synthetic oil change it was bone dry. Filled her up and went through it again in another month before I could get the filter changed. Then she started riding really rough. Sounded like a mechanical horse when I started it up and revved really low when idling. Mind you, stalling at idle was a common problem ealier this year that will be covered under another complaint. Got a third to add after that one but we'll do this one first since it's right now. So I notice this and make plans to get it into a shop by the weekend when I have the time to do so. While running at low gears it sounds like a bicycal wheel with a baseball card pinned to it. Except WAAAAY louder. Three days pass and I go to leave work on Friday and the check engine light comes on as I start it up. I say a little prayer and pull out of the parking lot. Just got out of the gate at work, start to speed up from 15 mph and it dies. I coast into the neighboring parking lot and she won't turn over. Not even trying to, just sounds like an RC car. Check the fluids, oil is low again. Fill it up after it sits for a little bit and nothing. Check the battery and it's good. Still nothing. Take it to a local shop (thanks sh*tty insurance) and he thinks the timing chain snapped and he doesn't have the resources to fix it or check my valves without opening the head. Out of options, I tow it to the local dealership and they say it's not the timing chain but they'll have to take off the head and dig into the motor to find the problem. Talk about costly. As of now I can't say what the problem is, might be piston rings. Might not be. Who the hell knows. I do know that I've already spent over $2000 in repairs this year alone. Everything happened literally months after the warrantis expired. Go figure. I'll update this week once I see what the damage is.
