Have had this vehicle for 6 years. Engine light came on and took it to a shop that I always deal with. They replaced sensors, catalytic converters and such to tune of $1700.00. Several days later the engine light comes on again, goes off and then comes back on. Took it back to shop. They said all is well on their end and to take it to a GM dealer for further assistance. Did just that and they replaced another sensor for $125.00. Light came on again several days later.

Took it back to GM dealer who then said the only other solution is to replace the actuator and timing chains. That was done to the tune of $1808.03. Not a week later the engine light has come on and gone off again. Will take it back to dealer when I have the time. I have spent almost $3800.00 on this one problem. The vehicle only has 79350 miles on it. If the same problem or sensor is the issue then they had better fix it free of charge. If they don't or refuse to the I will trade the car in. I have had other cars(foreign) that I have never had this type of problem and have gotten well over 100,000 miles on the vehicles.

THIS IS SUCH A HEADACHE. Apparently I am not the only one who has this problem. Once the engine light came on I assumed this was for a oil change and the ticking noise. When the oil change was done this was still a problem and I have been out of work from a car accident and during the time and on a fixed income dealers think you are made of money.

I took this to the dealer for a diagnostic and was told about the timing belt/chain and they want nearly $2,000 to fix and this is not even 100,000 and for the age of the vehicle for the engine to have this kind of problem.and forget any kind of power train warranty or any type of coverage. This sucks. My bro in law referred me to a mechanic who has had more than a few complaints of the same thing including the Equinox and this part is designed only for the dealer to repair and he would not touch it.

Right now I am recovering from 2 back surgeries and not working I was advised to look into matters for the GM dealer to fix this defect at this time there are no recalls for this problem HELP if there is any type of class action to resolve this serious issue of the design flaw with this engine.
