Brake rotor was only half worn out when a horrible vibrating started every time the brakes were applied. The vibration was so bad it caused the speed sensor strip to peal from the hub and thereby damaging the speed sensor finger. The mechanic said he never saw anything like that . I let it go for too long because I was changing brake pads and machining the rotors myself to try and figure out the problem. By now the warranty had passed for these components, and I finally noticed that the rotor had some hard spots on it. I bought a new aftermarket premium rotor and presto the problem went away.
It cost me $600.00 including labor for a whole new hub because the speed sensor is built in. The car was just over three years old. Poor quality material. Global sourcing is just wonderful isn't it? This was one of 11 problems so far with this newly bought car. Can't the consumer expect 5 years of trouble free driving any more?
