My bother, sister in law, wife and I were on the interstate at 10pm traveling from Ct to Fla. On I-84 in Ct. It was raining very hard when we all heard a pop and then the wipers stopped working. My wife was driving at the time and was freaking out, but she managed to get the car into the breakdown lane. I got out of the vehicle and the wipers were hanging off the drivers side.
I managed to get them down in the stopped position. We all calmed ourselves down and drove a mile in the breakdown lane to the nearest exit. I got to a gas station under the covered pumps. My brother and I checked the fuses which were ok. My wife then tried the wipers again and we could hear the motor but the wipers weren't moving. We drove the Terrain about 32 miles on the back roads to my brothers house with no wipers (Awesome Rain-X). We put the Terrain in his garage and took his vehicle to make our meeting in Florida.
This was a traumatic experience for us, but it was great God was watching over us to make it safely back to his house. This problem needs to be recalled because many other people are having the same issues and luckily no one got hurt.
