This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The accelerator cable popped off of the accelerator pedal while driving in traffic, the engine immediately went to idle and the vehicle slowed to five miles an hour. People started blowing their horn at me as I attempted to find a spot to pull out of the traffic flow. This did occur at a relatively slow 20-25 miles per hour, if this were to happen on the highway or on an access ramp the resulting slowdown would most likely cause an accident. This is the fourth time this has occurred and I will not pay the dealer or General Motors to fix what is obviously a design flaw.
Twice in three years the accelarator cable broke, leaving us sitting in traffic. The first time was approx 3-4 weeks after we purchased the car from the dealer. The dealer claims that they have not had this problem before and will not cover/honor their own repairs from three years ago. We are having to pay for the cable repair and now feel that for a car with only 30K miles-this problem is dangerous and should be investigated. Thank you.
