The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the message "Check Service Brakes Now" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with electric parking brake malfunction. The mechanic informed the contact that the electric parking brake had been engaged unintendedly, causing the rear driver's side brake calipers to seize. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred on the rear passenger's side while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electric parking brake circuitry failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
