This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
On or about [XXX], the Transmission Control Module, FAILED, on my 2011GMC Denali 2500 6.6 diesel. It was a KNOWN faulty part.General Motors was aware of the issue years ago. This part should have been deemed a Safety Recall item. Imagine, pulling a trailer down a busy Freeway, with Semi's presence. Module goes out, truck goes idle, people hurt or worse. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
TCM failed. Couldn-??t find the parts required. Truck sat 700 miles away from me for four weeks. Had to have part repaired in hopes it worked. As of now I still have some issues but would not have the truck at all if I had to wait for a part
When vehicle is warm and shut off, upon restart it will not go in to any gear, there was no warning lamps. An independent repair facility determined the Transmission Control Module was defective. General Motors has no parts available, and I know fro a fact it is a rather large issue.
Vehicle was exhibiting harsh shifting; upshifts/downshifts. Pulling into driveway from rural highway vehicle downshifted and passenger was thrown forward and almost hit the dash with her head, felt like it was shifting into park. Had vehicle towed to dealership. Vehicle would not shift into any gear for mechanic. Transmission repaired along with a wiring harness that prevented the main computer to communicate with the transmission. Reporting this because this is dangerous if this wiring harness fails as we could be out in the middle of nowhere with a vehicle that will not drive. Attaching invoice of repairs that show what parts were replaced by the dealer.
