It started just kicking out of gear while going downhill or coasting and as soon as you pressed on the gas it would go back into gear and drive normal. At first hardly even noticed it. then it started shifting back in gear a little ruff. So I took it to the local shop and they had no clue, they ran a dyno on it with no results. They told me it might be a dirty trans filter or bad trans filter, I questioned the second one. They did tell me I had two quarts too much trans fluid that they drained and put in some TransX? That was supposed to help with slipping and conditioning of my transmission? They told me to drive it and make sure I manually shift through all my gears including the trailer tow, also shift through 4- high and 4-low so I did, I was a shifting fool.
For a couple days, then one day while parking I went to back up and I had no reverse in 2wd, I had to shift it in 4low to get reverse. I eventually got reverse back and I drove it back to the shop. They said, change the trans filter and so I did. I also changed the fluid in the transfer case, both fluids looked good and smelled good, there were no metal shavings in the fluid or filter. he truck drove fine for two days. I washed it, took my kid to basketball practice and on the way back it wouldn't downshift and now it will not go into any gear unless I'm in 4low.
I have a appointment to take it to a transmission shop 50 miles away.
